• Portable Pods: Lightweight, insulated fabric tubs that are perfect for beginners, small gardens, or travel. They are typically cooled manually using ice.
• Nordic Wood Tubs: Handcrafted from spruce or thermowood, these offer a traditional aesthetic and superior natural insulation. They are ideal for permanent outdoor setups.
• Hard-Shell (Acrylic/Composite) Tubs: These are "all-in-one" premium units, often resembling a spa or hot tub. They typically come with integrated chilling and filtration systems for a "set and forget" experience.

Integrating an ice bath into your routine offers profound physical and mental advantages.

• Physical Recovery: The cold constricts blood vessels, flushing out metabolic waste (like lactic acid) and significantly reducing muscle inflammation and soreness after exercise.
• Mental Resilience: Cold immersion triggers a massive release of norepinephrine and dopamine (the "feel-good" hormone), which sharpens focus, boosts mood, and builds mental resilience against stress.

• Manual (Ice): For portable pods and basic wooden tubs, adding bags of ice is a cost-effective way to get started. It requires no electricity but does require planning and ongoing ice purchases.
• Automated (Chiller): A dedicated water chiller unit (often included with premium models or sold separately) cools the water electrically. It maintains a precise temperature (e.g., 3°C) 24/7, meaning your bath is always ready to use without any preparation. Chillers also typically include filtration to keep the water clean.

For effective cold water therapy, the water should typically be between 3°C and 15°C.

• Beginners: We recommend starting around 10°C to 15°C to acclimatise your body safely.
• Advanced Users: As your tolerance builds, you can lower the temperature towards 3°C for a more intense "cold shock" response. Always listen to your body and never stay in longer than feels safe.

Hygiene is essential for a safe recovery routine.

• Without a Chiller: If you are using a manual tub, we recommend changing the water every 1 to 2 weeks (or sooner if it becomes cloudy) and using a cover to keep debris out.
• With a Chiller: Most chiller units feature built-in ozone sanitation and particulate filters. This system circulates and cleans the water constantly, meaning you may only need to change the water every 3 to 6 months, depending on usage.

• Portable & Wooden Tubs: These are predominantly designed for outdoor use (gardens, patios, or decking) due to drainage requirements.
• Hard-Shell & Chiller Units: These can be installed indoors (e.g., in a garage, gym, or wet room), provided the floor is waterproof, load-bearing, and there is adequate ventilation for the chiller unit to expel heat.
  
  

More is not always better. The consensus among recovery experts is that 2 to 5 minutes is sufficient to trigger the physiological benefits. The goal is to control your breathing and calm your nervous system, not to endure the cold for as long as possible. We recommend setting a timer before you enter.
