This guide outlines the complete process from placing your order through to installation, safety checks and aftercare. Following these steps will help ensure a seamless delivery and set-up of your Poolex IceSpa 7 kW inverter heat pump / chiller, whether you are fitting it to a spa, hot tub or cold-plunge at home or in a professional wellness setting.
The IceSpa is a reversible unit: it heats your spa or hot tub water and, in Chiller mode, cools it for cold-plunge use. It runs on R32 refrigerant through a titanium heat exchanger and connects to a standard single-phase supply.
1. Place Your Order
- Choose the Poolex IceSpa 7 kW model and complete your purchase on our website by providing your delivery address.
- The price shown includes delivery within mainland UK (exclusions include the Channel Islands, areas of Scotland, and Ireland).
- You will receive an order confirmation email immediately with your order details, estimated delivery timeframe, and next steps.
- To ensure smooth access on the day of delivery, we may request photos or a short video of the delivery area, access routes, or surrounding space.
- This helps our logistics team confirm the feasibility of delivery and kerbside unloading requirements.
- All units are held in our UK warehouse and prepared for dispatch once your order is confirmed. Kerbside delivery and unloading are included at no additional cost.
2. Order Processing & Preparation
- Once your order is confirmed, your IceSpa unit is scheduled for preparation and dispatch.
- The IceSpa 7 kW is a factory-built inverter heat pump with a titanium heat exchanger and an R32 refrigerant circuit. It is quality-checked and tested before leaving the manufacturer.
- The unit and its in-box accessories — RCD mains cable (5 m), 4 anti-vibration pads, 2 × 32/38 mm hose tails, 2 × hose clamps, winter cover, condensate drain kit, a detachable remote colour touchscreen (10 m cable) and the manual — are checked and securely boxed and palletised for shipment. Note that pipes and additional fittings are not supplied with the 7 kW.
3. Delivery Organisation
When your unit is ready, we organise delivery of the single boxed and palletised IceSpa to your address (kerbside). The 7 kW weighs approximately 43 kg net (around 46 kg gross, boxed). You will be notified of:
- Delivery date
- Estimated time window
- Any access requirements (e.g., suitable driveway space for a pallet truck)
- Your unit is dispatched directly from our UK warehouse, and unloading is included at no additional charge.
4. Pre-Installation Preparation
Before delivery, please prepare the following. These requirements come from the manufacturer's manual.
Base and siting (outdoors only)
- A level, stable outdoor base or concrete slab, capable of supporting the unit's weight, on which the 4 supplied anti-vibration pads will sit.
- Free, unobstructed airflow — exhaust air must not blow at neighbours' windows or recirculate back into the fan intake.
- Do not site the unit near oil, flammable or corrosive gases, sulphur, high-frequency devices, or where mud, road spray or noise would be a nuisance.
Airflow clearances (7 kW):

≥ 1.5 m clear in front of the fan/coil (the air intake and discharge).

≥ 2.5 m from the spa/tub (may be sited closer thanks to the built-in RCD).
- Nothing on top of or directly in front of the unit; never stand or step on it.
Plumbing

The IceSpa is installed after the spa's circulation pump, filter and heater in the water circuit.

Connect using the supplied 32/38 mm hose tails (1″). A bypass kit (2 × T-pieces + 3 × ball valves) is recommended so the unit can be isolated for service and winterising. Pipes and extra fittings are not supplied with the 7 kW.

Dose all water chemistry (chlorine, bromine, pH, salt) downstream of the heat pump, never immediately upstream, and keep the water at pH 6.8–7.8.
- Keep the upstream filter clean and check the flow rate monthly.
Condensate
Electrical Preparation (Customer's Responsibility) All electrical work is entirely the customer's responsibility. You must:
- Arrange a qualified electrician prior to installation.

Provide a 230 V single-phase, 50/60 Hz supply. The unit draws a maximum running current of 9 A.

Supply from an RCD-protected, properly earthed circuit. The manual's installation diagram specifies a 230 V, 16 A socket with a 10 mA RCD, sheltered from rain and water spray. The unit is supplied with an RCD plug (10 mA residual-current device built into the plug) and a 5 m cable — it is plug-in, not hard-wired. Note: the 7 kW product page warns that this RCD plug may not fit outdoor sockets fitted with covers — confirm your socket arrangement with your electrician [confirm].

Ensure compliance with UK electrical regulations (BS 7671), including correct MCB/breaker and isolator selection and cable sizing. Beyond the 16 A socket reference, the exact MCB rating and cable cross-section (mm²) are not specified by the manufacturer .
- Provide your electrician with the manufacturer's manual in advance, and where possible have them present on installation day.

5. Delivery & Unloading
On the scheduled delivery day:
- Your IceSpa arrives as a single boxed, palletised unit.
- Our delivery team unloads it (via pump truck or trolley where possible).
- It is placed at your designated kerbside or base area.
Once delivered, please:
- Unpack the unit and all accessories.
- Check for damage or missing parts. Note any visible damage on the carrier's paperwork at the point of delivery.
- Report any issues to us within 24 hours to maintain warranty eligibility. (The manufacturer additionally asks that any transit damage be confirmed in writing within 48 hours.)
- If the unit has been transported lying horizontally, wait 24 hours before connecting it.
6. Installation / Commissioning
Professional installation is optional. Otherwise, all plumbing and electrical work must be carried out by suitably qualified persons. The chiller arrives factory-built and fully assembled — only positioning, plumbing and the electrical connection are required.
Installation steps
- Position the unit on the level slab, on its anti-vibration pads, observing the stated clearances (≥ 50 cm sides/rear, ≥ 1.5 m front, ≥ 2.5 m from the spa).

Plumb it into the circuit after the circulation pump and filter, ideally on a bypass kit, using the 32/38 mm hose tails.
- Prime and fill the circuit and check every union and hose clamp for leaks.

A qualified electrician makes the RCD-protected, earthed connection and provides local isolation.
- Commission the unit using the manufacturer's pre-start checklist (see Section 7) and run it for the first time.

Select Heat mode (spa/hot tub) or Cool / Chiller mode (cold-plunge) on the touchscreen and set your target temperature. The unit typically changes water temperature by about 1–2 °C per hour, so keep the tub covered and insulated.
Commissioning / first-run checks (from the manual)

Unit secure and level; pressure gauge reads > 80 psi; wiring to terminals correct; earth connected; hydraulic joints tight with no leaks; water circulating at an adequate flow; area clear of tools.
- Start sequence: power on → start the filtration pump → activate the RCD/differential on the cable → start the heat pump → set temperature and mode on the touchscreen → the compressor starts shortly after.
- After a power cut the unit wakes in sleep mode — re-arm the RCD and switch it back on.
7. Finishing & Safety Check
Once installed and commissioned:
- Confirm the unit is level and secure on its pads, and that all clearances remain clear.
- Check every water union, hose tail and clamp for leaks under running flow.
- Test the RCD in the plug (press RESET to power on; test the RCD regularly thereafter).

8. Enjoy Your Chiller & Ongoing Support — Including Winterising

Warranty (return-to-base, from first invoice date): unit 3 years, compressor 7 years, titanium coil 15 years against corrosion; parts-only after year 3. The warranty excludes frost damage, incorrect water chemistry, and unauthorised repair or accessories. Any registration-based extension of these terms is not documented in our sources .

Operating ambient range: the unit is designed to run year-round from −25 °C to +43 °C, with automatic defrost/de-icing.

Winterising (important): when the spa is drained or taken out of use in frost, drain all residual water from the unit and fit the supplied winter cover. The manual further advises disconnecting the unit and storing it in a dry place (shed or garage) over winter. Frost damage is not covered by the warranty. For performance, keep the tub, pipework and an insulating cover all insulated.
