Poolex Ice Spa 7kW | Full Inverter EVI Heat Pump for Large Spas

The Poolex Ice Spa 7kW (PC-ICESPA-7) is the 2026 gold standard for year-round heating in large-format hot tubs and swim spas. Recently awarded the prestigious What Spa? 2026 Best Buy Award: This unit is engineered for homeowners who refuse to let winter energy costs dictate their wellness routine. By combining Full Inverter technology with a high-performance EVI compressor, the Ice Spa 7kW delivers a massive 7kW output, while remaining capable of heating effectively down to -25°C.

With a COP of up to 11.9, the Ice Spa 7kW is roughly four times cheaper to run than a standard electric heater. Whether you are maintaining a 40°C soak during a blizzard or cooling a swim spa for summer training, this unit provides the most reliable, award-winning thermal management on the market.

Why the Ice Spa 7kW is the 2026 Industry Leader:

1. Award-Winning EVI Power

The Ice Spa 7kW has dominated the industry awards (2024–2026) due to its specialised cold-climate engineering:

  • Enhanced Vapour Injection (EVI): This technology injects vapour into the compressor to boost performance when ambient air is freezing. At -10°C, it still pumps out 3.3kW of heat, ensuring your spa stays at temperature even when standard heat pumps fail.
  • Full Inverter Efficiency: The system intelligently modulates its power consumption, reducing energy bills by up to 75% compared to traditional 3kW or 6kW electric immersion heaters.
  • Whisper-Quiet Operation: At a distance of 10m, noise levels drop below 28dB(A)—quieter than a library—making it ideal for residential neighbour hoodss.

2. Smart Connectivity & "Plug & Play" Simplicity

Designed for the modern smart home, the Ice Spa 7kW offers effortless control:

  • Built-in Wi-Fi & Poolex App: Manage your spa temperature, set timers, and switch between heating and cooling modes directly from your smartphone via the Smart Life App.
  • Optional Remote Touchscreen: For those who prefer physical controls, a detachable wired colour touchscreen can be added to monitor performance from inside the house.
  • Rapid Installation: Supplied with a 4m mains cable and RCD plug, it is a true "Plug & Play" solution. The 1" / 32-38mm connections ensure it integrates with almost any existing spa plumbing.

3. Reversible Climate Control

  • Heat or Cool: With a heating range up to 40°C and a cooling range down to 4°C, it is perfect for both luxury hot tubs and high-performance "Ice Bath" recovery setups.
  • Titanium Longevity: The Titanium heat exchanger is immune to chemical corrosion from chlorine or salt water, backed by a 15-year warranty.

2026 Installation & Performance Tips

  • Location Matters: Install the unit outdoors with clear airflow. Avoid placing it in sheds or dense vegetation, as the unit needs to disperse cooled air to maintain its What Spa? 2026 efficiency ratings.
  • Electrical Note: The supplied RCD plug is designed for safety; however, ensure your outdoor socket housing is large enough to accommodate the RCD casing.
  • Winter Protection: While the unit operates down to -25°C, it is supplied with a custom winter cover to protect the chassis from debris when not in use.
  • ROI: For a 1,500-litre hot tub used year-round, the Ice Spa 7kW typically pays for itself in energy savings within 14 to 18 months.

Buying Guide +

Poolex IceSpa 7 kW Inverter Heat Pump & Chiller — Buying Guide

Ensuring a smooth, safe and professional delivery, installation and commissioning experience. This guide outlines the complete process from placing your order through to installation, safety checks and aftercare. Following these steps will help ensure a seamless delivery and set-up of your Poolex IceSpa 7 kW inverter heat pump / chiller, whether you are fitting it to a spa, hot tub or cold-plunge at home or in a professional wellness setting.

The IceSpa is a reversible unit: it heats your spa or hot tub water and, in Chiller mode, cools it for cold-plunge use. It runs on R32 refrigerant through a titanium heat exchanger and connects to a standard single-phase supply.

1. Place Your Order

  • Choose the Poolex IceSpa 7 kW model and complete your purchase on our website by providing your delivery address.
  • The price shown includes delivery within mainland UK (exclusions include the Channel Islands, areas of Scotland, and Ireland).
  • You will receive an order confirmation email immediately with your order details, estimated delivery timeframe, and next steps.
  • To ensure smooth access on the day of delivery, we may request photos or a short video of the delivery area, access routes, or surrounding space.
  • This helps our logistics team confirm the feasibility of delivery and kerbside unloading requirements.
  • All units are held in our UK warehouse and prepared for dispatch once your order is confirmed. Kerbside delivery and unloading are included at no additional cost.

2. Order Processing & Preparation

  • Once your order is confirmed, your IceSpa unit is scheduled for preparation and dispatch.
  • The IceSpa 7 kW is a factory-built inverter heat pump with a titanium heat exchanger and an R32 refrigerant circuit. It is quality-checked and tested before leaving the manufacturer.
  • The unit and its in-box accessories — RCD mains cable (5 m), 4 anti-vibration pads, 2 × 32/38 mm hose tails, 2 × hose clamps, winter cover, condensate drain kit, a detachable remote colour touchscreen (10 m cable) and the manual — are checked and securely boxed and palletised for shipment. Note that pipes and additional fittings are not supplied with the 7 kW.

3. Delivery Organisation

When your unit is ready, we organise delivery of the single boxed and palletised IceSpa to your address (kerbside). The 7 kW weighs approximately 43 kg net (around 46 kg gross, boxed). You will be notified of:

  • Delivery date
  • Estimated time window
  • Any access requirements (e.g., suitable driveway space for a pallet truck)
  • Your unit is dispatched directly from our UK warehouse, and unloading is included at no additional charge.

4. Pre-Installation Preparation

Before delivery, please prepare the following. These requirements come from the manufacturer's manual.

Base and siting (outdoors only)

  • A level, stable outdoor base or concrete slab, capable of supporting the unit's weight, on which the 4 supplied anti-vibration pads will sit.
  • Free, unobstructed airflow — exhaust air must not blow at neighbours' windows or recirculate back into the fan intake.
  • Do not site the unit near oil, flammable or corrosive gases, sulphur, high-frequency devices, or where mud, road spray or noise would be a nuisance.

Airflow clearances (7 kW):

  • ≥ 50 cm to the sides and rear.
  • ≥ 1.5 m clear in front of the fan/coil (the air intake and discharge).
  • ≥ 2.5 m from the spa/tub (may be sited closer thanks to the built-in RCD).
  • Nothing on top of or directly in front of the unit; never stand or step on it.

Plumbing

  • The IceSpa is installed after the spa's circulation pump, filter and heater in the water circuit.
  • Connect using the supplied 32/38 mm hose tails (1″). A bypass kit (2 × T-pieces + 3 × ball valves) is recommended so the unit can be isolated for service and winterising. Pipes and extra fittings are not supplied with the 7 kW.
  • Dose all water chemistry (chlorine, bromine, pH, salt) downstream of the heat pump, never immediately upstream, and keep the water at pH 6.8–7.8.
  • Keep the upstream filter clean and check the flow rate monthly.

Condensate

  • Fit the supplied condensate drain kit to the base to route condensate and defrost melt-water away from the slab. (Detailed condensate routing is not given in the manual's English text .)

Electrical Preparation (Customer's Responsibility) All electrical work is entirely the customer's responsibility. You must:

  • Arrange a qualified electrician prior to installation.
  • Provide a 230 V single-phase, 50/60 Hz supply. The unit draws a maximum running current of 9 A.
  • Supply from an RCD-protected, properly earthed circuit. The manual's installation diagram specifies a 230 V, 16 A socket with a 10 mA RCD, sheltered from rain and water spray. The unit is supplied with an RCD plug (10 mA residual-current device built into the plug) and a 5 m cable — it is plug-in, not hard-wired. Note: the 7 kW product page warns that this RCD plug may not fit outdoor sockets fitted with covers — confirm your socket arrangement with your electrician [confirm].
  • Ensure compliance with UK electrical regulations (BS 7671), including correct MCB/breaker and isolator selection and cable sizing. Beyond the 16 A socket reference, the exact MCB rating and cable cross-section (mm²) are not specified by the manufacturer .
  • Provide your electrician with the manufacturer's manual in advance, and where possible have them present on installation day.
  • Important: Failure to use a qualified electrician or to meet the required electrical standards may void the warranty.

5. Delivery & Unloading

On the scheduled delivery day:

  • Your IceSpa arrives as a single boxed, palletised unit.
  • Our delivery team unloads it (via pump truck or trolley where possible).
  • It is placed at your designated kerbside or base area.

Once delivered, please:

  • Unpack the unit and all accessories.
  • Check for damage or missing parts. Note any visible damage on the carrier's paperwork at the point of delivery.
  • Report any issues to us within 24 hours to maintain warranty eligibility. (The manufacturer additionally asks that any transit damage be confirmed in writing within 48 hours.)
  • If the unit has been transported lying horizontally, wait 24 hours before connecting it.

6. Installation / Commissioning

Professional installation is optional. Otherwise, all plumbing and electrical work must be carried out by suitably qualified persons. The chiller arrives factory-built and fully assembled — only positioning, plumbing and the electrical connection are required.

Installation steps

  1. Position the unit on the level slab, on its anti-vibration pads, observing the stated clearances (≥ 50 cm sides/rear, ≥ 1.5 m front, ≥ 2.5 m from the spa).
  2. Plumb it into the circuit after the circulation pump and filter, ideally on a bypass kit, using the 32/38 mm hose tails.
  3. Prime and fill the circuit and check every union and hose clamp for leaks.
  4. A qualified electrician makes the RCD-protected, earthed connection and provides local isolation.
  5. Commission the unit using the manufacturer's pre-start checklist (see Section 7) and run it for the first time.
  6. Select Heat mode (spa/hot tub) or Cool / Chiller mode (cold-plunge) on the touchscreen and set your target temperature. The unit typically changes water temperature by about 1–2 °C per hour, so keep the tub covered and insulated.

Commissioning / first-run checks (from the manual)

  • Unit secure and level; pressure gauge reads > 80 psi; wiring to terminals correct; earth connected; hydraulic joints tight with no leaks; water circulating at an adequate flow; area clear of tools.
  • Start sequence: power on → start the filtration pump → activate the RCD/differential on the cable → start the heat pump → set temperature and mode on the touchscreen → the compressor starts shortly after.
  • After a power cut the unit wakes in sleep mode — re-arm the RCD and switch it back on.

7. Finishing & Safety Check

Once installed and commissioned:

  • Confirm the unit is level and secure on its pads, and that all clearances remain clear.
  • Check every water union, hose tail and clamp for leaks under running flow.
  • Test the RCD in the plug (press RESET to power on; test the RCD regularly thereafter).
  • Run a full heat cycle and a full cool cycle to confirm both modes operate correctly.
  • Obtain the electrical installation certification from your electrician.

8. Enjoy Your Chiller & Ongoing Support — Including Winterising

  • Warranty (return-to-base, from first invoice date): unit 3 years, compressor 7 years, titanium coil 15 years against corrosion; parts-only after year 3. The warranty excludes frost damage, incorrect water chemistry, and unauthorised repair or accessories. Any registration-based extension of these terms is not documented in our sources .
  • Operating ambient range: the unit is designed to run year-round from −25 °C to +43 °C, with automatic defrost/de-icing.
  • Winterising (important): when the spa is drained or taken out of use in frost, drain all residual water from the unit and fit the supplied winter cover. The manual further advises disconnecting the unit and storing it in a dry place (shed or garage) over winter. Frost damage is not covered by the warranty. For performance, keep the tub, pipework and an insulating cover all insulated.
  • Support: report any damage within 24 hours. Our support team is always available for assistance or replacement parts.

Returns & Refunds (Key Information)

  • Eligibility: Returns apply only to unused products in original condition. Custom or modified items may not be eligible.
  • Reporting issues: Missing or damaged components must be reported within 24 hours of delivery. Transit-damage claims require timely reporting; note visible damage on the carrier's receipt at the point of delivery.
  • Procedure: Contact our customer support with photographs or video evidence. A member of our team will assess the issue and arrange replacements, repairs, or next steps.
  • Refund conditions: Refunds or replacements are available only for products that are defective, damaged in transit, or not as described.

Final Note on Electrical Responsibility

All electrical work — including preparation, the power supply, the final connection, isolation, certification and compliance with BS 7671 — is 100% the customer's responsibility and must be completed by a qualified electrician. This requirement is essential for safety, performance and warranty validity.

Electrical Supply - IMPORTANT +

Technical Specification: Electrical Supply

Owner’s Brief for the Poolex Ice Spa 7kW

CRITICAL: RCD PLUG ADVISORY

The Ice Spa 7kW comes with a 4m mains cable and a pre-fitted RCD plug. Note that this RCD plug is larger than a standard UK plug. It will not fit inside most waterproof outdoor sockets with "clip-down" or "flip-top" covers. You may need a dedicated "large-format" weatherproof enclosure or have an electrician hardwire the unit via a rotary isolator.

1. Power Infrastructure Requirements

The 7kW model is more powerful than the 5kW version, drawing a maximum of 1.7kW during peak heating or EVI engagement.

UK Standard

  • No Extension Leads: Due to the 7.4A continuous draw, the use of a standard household extension lead is a fire risk. The unit must be plugged directly into a wall-mounted outdoor socket.
  • Circuit Load: Ensure the circuit serving the heat pump can handle the ~7.4A load in addition to the Hot Tub's own pumps and heaters. Most domestic 16A or 32A ring mains are sufficient, provided they aren't overloaded with other high-draw appliances (kettles, dryers, etc.).

2. Inverter & EVI Performance

  • Variable Draw: The Full Inverter technology means the unit doesn't always pull 1.7kW. In "Eco" or "Maintenance" mode, it may pull as little as 280W (roughly the same as a few lightbulbs).
  • EVI Operation: In extreme cold (-10°C to -25°C), the EVI compressor works harder to extract heat. This is when you will see the amperage rise toward the 7.4A limit.
  • RCD Safety: The integrated RCD is your primary safety barrier. It must be kept clear of standing water and tested regularly.

3. Smart Control & Integration

  • Wi-Fi Strength: The 7kW unit relies on the Smart Life / Poolex App for advanced scheduling. If your Wi-Fi signal is weak outdoors, the inverter may still run, but you will lose the ability to use the programmable timer or remote temperature adjustments.
  • Optional Touchscreen: If you chose the detachable wired touchscreen option, the data cable must be protected from UV light and moisture during installation.

4. Commissioning

  • Water Flow Verification: The unit’s internal electronics will prevent the compressor from starting if the 3m³/h flow rate isn't detected. Ensure your spa pump is active before turning on the heat pump.
  • Certification: While this is a "Plug & Play" unit, if you have an electrician install a dedicated outdoor socket or enclosure for the RCD plug, ensure you receive a Minor Works Certificate.

Owner’s Electrical Action Plan

  1. Enclosure Check: Verify if your outdoor socket cover can close over the bulky RCD plug. If not, upgrade the enclosure.
  2. Distance Check: Ensure the unit is within 4 meters of the socket (the length of the supplied cable).
  3. App Setup: Pair the unit with your home network before cold weather sets in to ensure the anti-frost logic is active.
Delivery & Installation +

Delivery & Installation Protocol: Poolex Ice Spa 7kW

PC-ICESPA-7 | Award-Winning Full Inverter EVI Heat Pump

As a What Spa? 2026 Best Buy, this unit requires a precise installation to maintain the efficiency levels that earned its accolades.

1. Receipt & "Award-Grade" Audit

  • The 24-Hour Inspection: Inspect the larger 710mm x 490mm chassis for any impact damage. Check the fan blades through the grille to ensure they rotate freely and haven't shifted during transit.
  • Upright Settlement: This unit contains significantly more R32 refrigerant than the 5kW model. It must sit upright for 24 hours before power-up to ensure the oil and refrigerant have separated correctly in the EVI compressor.
  • RCD Compatibility Check: Note that the supplied RCD plug is bulky and may not fit inside standard "flip-lid" outdoor sockets. Check your socket clearance immediately.

2. Site Preparation: The 7kW Airflow Dynamics

With a higher heat output comes a higher volume of cold air exhaust.

  • Exhaust Clearance: Ensure a minimum of 2.5 meters of clear space in front of the fan. The 7kW unit moves more air; if that cold air bounces off a fence or wall, the unit will "ice up" prematurely.
  • The Base: The unit weighs 42kg+. It must be placed on a solid, level base (concrete or heavy paving) using the provided anti-vibration pads to ensure quiet operation (< 28 dB at 10 m).
  • Drainage: In high-humidity/low-temp conditions, the unit can produce several litres of condensation per day. Ensure the runoff path is clear of walkways to avoid ice patches in winter.

3. Plumbing: The 3m³/h Flow Management

The Ice Spa 7kW is designed for a Nominal Flow of 3m³/h.

  • Bypass Assembly: A 3-valve bypass kit is mandatory for this model. Most spa pumps move water too fast for the 7kW heat exchanger to work efficiently. The bypass allows you to slow the water down to achieve the optimal temperature differential .
  • Connection Sequence: Always install the heat pump after the spa's existing circulation pump and filter, but before any chemical dosing equipment.
  • Hose Tails: The unit uses 1" male / 32-38mm connections. Ensure you have a high-pressure reinforced hose; a standard garden hose is not suitable for 40°C spa water under pressure.

4. Commissioning & Wi-Fi Optimisation

  • Air Purge: Before turning on the power, run the spa pump to purge all air from the heat pump's internal titanium coil. Trapped air can cause the unit to overheat instantly.
  • Poolex App Pairing: The 7kW unit features a dedicated Wi-Fi module. If your spa is distant from the house, verify a 2.4GHz signal strength at the unit before finalising the installation.
  • Winter Strategy: If not in use during winter, the unit must be drained and stored. If left outside, it must remain powered on to allow the automatic de-icing to protect the internal pipework.

Installation Readiness Checklist

  • Settlement: Unit stood upright for 24 hours?
  • RCD Check: Does the RCD plug fit into your outdoor socket enclosure?
  • Airflow: 300mm rear clearance and 2.5m front exhaust clearance confirmed?
  • Plumbing: Bypass kit ready for flow regulation 3m³/h?
  • Network: 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal available at the install site?
Warranty +

Poolex Ice Spa 7kW: Warranty Statement

PC-ICESPA-7 | Multi-Tiered Performance Guarantee

The Ice Spa 7kW is a "Full Inverter" precision instrument. To safeguard your 15-year, 7-year, and 3-year protection tiers, the following installation and seasonal maintenance standards are mandatory.

1. Tiered Warranty Duration

Poolex provides a comprehensive, return-to-base (RTB) warranty for the 7kW model:

  • Titanium Heat Exchanger: 15-Year Warranty specifically against chemical corrosion (excluding frost damage).
  • Inverter Compressor: 7-Year Warranty (Parts only) against mechanical failure.
  • General Parts & Electronics: 3-Year Warranty covering the fan motor, Wi-Fi module, sensors, and internal control boards.

2. Conditions for Validity

To maintain your coverage, these technical and environmental conditions must be met:

  • Flow Rate & Bypass: The unit is optimised for a nominal flow of 3m³/h. Operating the unit without a Bypass Kit on high-pressure spa systems can cause internal "erosion" or mechanical vibration damage to the sensors. Evidence of a bypass setup is required for hydraulic-related claims.
  • Chemical Compliance: While the titanium coil is highly resistant, the spa water must be kept within balanced parameters (pH 7.0–7.6). Concentrated "chemical shocking" should never be performed directly upstream of the heat pump.
  • Winterisation (The Frost Clause): The 15-year coil warranty does not cover frost damage. If the unit is left outdoors in winter, it must remain powered to allow the automatic de-icing logic to function. If the unit is disconnected, it must be fully drained and stored in a dry, frost-free environment (shed or garage).

3. The 24-Hour Inspection Rule

  • Refrigerant & Chassis: You must unbox and inspect the unit within 24 hours of delivery. Look for oily residue on the base—this indicates an R32 leak from the EVI circuit. Damage reported after this window is ineligible for transit claims.
  • The Settlement Rule: The unit contains a high-capacity compressor. If transported on its side, it must remain upright for 24 hours before power is applied. Starting the unit prematurely will cause oil-slugging in the EVI valves, voiding the 7-year compressor warranty.

4. Electrical Integrity

  • RCD Protection: The supplied 4m cable and RCD plug are integral to the unit's safety certification. Cutting the cable or removing the RCD plug to facilitate a hardwired installation without a suitable IP-rated external isolator will void the 3-year electronics warranty.
  • Airflow Obstruction: Performance-related claims will be rejected if the unit is installed with less than the required 2.5 meters of front exhaust clearance, as this causes "thermal recycling" and forces the inverter to overwork.

5. Claims Procedure

In the event of a technical fault:

  1. Identity: Provide your original purchase record and the Model/GTIN (PC-ICESPA-7).
  2. Digital Diagnostics: Provide a screenshot from the Poolex/Smart Life App showing the current settings and any active error codes.
  3. Site Photos: Photos showing the Bypass Kit, the 300mm rear/2.5m front clearance, and the electrical connection method.

Warranty Validity Checklist

  •  Inspection: Unit checked for oil leaks and transit damage within 24 hours?
  •  Settlement: Unit stood upright for a full 24 hours before the first start?
  •  Plumbing: Bypass kit installed and flow set to approximately 3m³/h?
  • Winter Plan: Unit either remains powered on for de-icing or is fully drained and stored?
  • Electrical: RCD plug used as intended or hardwired via a certified professional?
