Harvia Alpina View Medium Garden Sauna | Premium 5-Person Insulated Cabin

Transform your outdoor landscape into a world-class wellness retreat with the Harvia Alpina View Medium (ALP-M-V-DGR). Engineered for the modern UK homeowner, the Alpina View is an architectural masterpiece that combines a sophisticated Dark Grey (DGR) aesthetic with industry-leading thermal engineering.

As a premium 5-person garden sauna, the Alpina View is designed to withstand the British elements while providing an immersive, high-heat sanctuary. With its striking panoramic frontage and superior insulated construction, it represents the gold standard in contemporary outdoor wellness infrastructure.

Architectural Presence & UK Spatial Requirements

The Alpina View is a substantial structure, designed to be a permanent asset to your property. Standing at a total height of 2630 mm, it provides an airy, expansive internal head height that far exceeds that of standard garden cabins, while its gross weight is approx. 1,295 kg (when fully assembled with decor and glass) signifies its heavy-duty, high-performance construction.

Superior Thermal Engineering for the UK Climate

Unlike standard garden saunas, the Alpina View is an element cabin specifically designed for energy efficiency and thermal mass.

  • High-Performance Insulation: Features 110 mm thick insulated walls (including 80 mm of high-density insulation), ensuring rapid heating and exceptional heat retention even in mid-winter.
  • Weather-Resistant Cladding: The exterior is finished with premium Spruce Rhomboid decor in Dark Grey, providing a sleek, modern look built to endure the UK’s damp, changing weather.
  • Impregnated Base Frame: The structure sits on a reinforced, impregnated base frame with 19 mm floor boards, creating a stable, rot-resistant foundation.

The "Prestige" Interior: Unrivalled Materiality

Step inside to experience the signature Harvia "Prestige" interior, where tactile comfort meets Finnish tradition.

  • Premium Linden Wood: Seating and backrests are crafted from smooth, high-quality Linden (Limewood). Linden is specifically chosen for its low thermal conductivity, ensuring the wood remains cool to the touch even at 90 °C and above.
  • Architectural Glazing: Features a massive double-glazed fixed window (1686 x 1666 mm) and a matching insulated glass door, flooding the cabin with natural light while maintaining a high-performance thermal seal.

The Harvia Alpina View Medium: Project Roadmap

Your Journey to a Professional Outdoor Sanctuary

The Alpina View Medium is the gold standard of outdoor wellness. Combining a massive 1,259kg solid-timber structure with a panoramic glass facade, it is designed to be a permanent, high-performance feature of your landscape.

1. The "Heavyweight" Profile (Dimensions & Capacity)

  • The Structure: 2.28m x 2.28m footprint with a height of 2.63m.
  • The Mass: At 1,259kg (Net), this sauna requires a structural-grade foundation.
  • The Occupancy: Formally a 5-person sauna, the "Medium" footprint provides a spacious social environment with a tiered bench system for varying heat intensities.
  • The "Wow" Factor: The corner-to-corner glass frontage is paired with high-quality Linden wood interiors, which stay cool to the touch even when the stove is at full output.

2. Phase One: The Foundation (Site Prep)

You are building a structure that weighs more than a compact car.

  • The Load Requirement: 1,259kg (Structure) + 100kg (Heater & Stones) + 450kg (5 Adults) = Approx. 1,800kg.
  • The Base: You must have a reinforced concrete pad or a heavy-duty structural steel/timber frame.
  • Moisture Gap: The foundation must allow for adequate drainage beneath the sauna to prevent the spruce base-logs from sitting in standing water.

3. Phase Two: Choose Your Fire (Proposals)

The Alpina View Medium is a "dual-capability" cabin. You must choose your heat source:

  • Proposal 1: The Traditionalist (Wood-Burning)
    • Heater: Harvia Linear 18 Stove with Chimney Kit.
    • The Experience: Pure, soft heat with the scent of wood-fire.
    • Logistics: Requires a 1m clearance for the chimney and a non-combustible protective bedding (included).
  • Proposal 2: The Modernist (11kW Electric)
    • Heater: Harvia Cilindro 110E (11kW) with Fenix 110 Digital Control.
    • The Experience: Precision temperature control and pre-heat scheduling via the external hub.
    • Logistics: Requires a 50-Amp dedicated circuit (Consult your electrician on this 11kW load).

4. Logistics & The "Alpina" Arrival

  • The Delivery: Due to the 1,295kg Gross Weight, this arrives as a massive, heavy-duty pallet.
  • Integrated Assistance: We provide kerbside delivery. Due to the weight of the individual 40mm+ spruce beams, our crew will assist you in moving the components to the build site, provided the ground is firm and accessible.
  • The 24-Hour Inspection: Essential. With a glass-fronted outdoor unit of this scale, all panels must be inspected for transit damage within 24 hours.

5. Installation Pathways & Warranty

  • Pathway A: Professional Installation Service
    • Warranty: 2-Year Comprehensive Warranty.
    • The Build: Our team handles the heavy-lifting, the chimney integration (for wood-burners), and the precision sealing of the panoramic glass.
  • Pathway B: Independent Contractor
    • Warranty: 1-Year Parts-Only Warranty.
    • The Build: Best for experienced landscape builders. Note: This is a complex, heavy-timber build that requires mechanical lifting or multiple personnel.

6. Mandatory Outdoor Maintenance

To protect your 1,250kg investment, you must follow the External Stewardship Rule:

  1. 7-Day Seal: Apply a high-quality, appropriate outdoor wood preservative/oil within 7 days.
  2. Roofing: Ensure the roofing membrane (EPDM/Bitumen) is installed immediately to prevent water ingress into the tongue-and-groove joints.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO THE PROPERTY OWNER

Technical Guidance for Both Electric (11kW) & Wood-Burning Options

The information provided in this document is for guidance purposes only. The Alpina View Medium represents a significant structural and thermal load. You must always defer to the professional judgment of your qualified, registered electrician. They are responsible for calculating total property load, SWA cable sizing for the run-length, and ensuring all outdoor installations comply with local building regulations.

1. Identify Your Selected Proposal

Your electrician needs to know which "pathway" you have chosen, as the power requirements differ significantly:

Proposal A: The Modernist (11kW Electric)

  • Load: High-demand. Requires a dedicated 50-Amp radial circuit.

  • System: Harvia Cilindro 110E + Fenix 100 Digital Hub.

  • Current Draw: Approx 47.8 Amps (Single Phase).

  • Notes: The electrician must verify that the property’s Service Head Fuse (Main Fuse) can support this additional load alongside existing appliances.

Proposal B: The Traditionalist (Wood-Burning)

  • Load: Low-demand. Requires a standard 6-Amp or 10-Amp lighting circuit.
  • System: Harvia Linear 18 Stove + LED Atmosphere Lighting.
  • Notes: No high-voltage feed is required for the stove, but a safe SWA (Steel Wire Armoured) feed is required to power the LED transformer.

2. Mandatory Internal Standard: SiHF-JB

Regardless of the heater chosen, the internal temperature of the Alpina View will exceed 100°C. Standard PVC house wiring is strictly prohibited inside the sauna envelope.

  • The Requirement: All cabling entering the sauna (Heater, LED Lighting, and Sensors) must be SiHF-JB high-temperature silicone-insulated cable (rated to 180°C).
  • Compliance: The use of standard PVC (Twin & Earth) inside the sauna will lead to insulation failure and void all hardware warranties.

3. Wiring Topology & Site Prep

  • Outdoor Supply: We recommend a dedicated SWA (Steel Wire Armoured) cable buried at the appropriate depth. Your electrician must calculate the voltage drop over the distance from the consumer unit.
  • The "Digital Hub" (Electric Only): The Harvia Power Unit should be mounted in a dry, ventilated, and weather-protected enclosure.
  • Isolation: A weatherproof rotary isolator switch must be located within a safe distance of the sauna for maintenance and emergency shut-off.

4. Boundary of Responsibility

  • Balance Recovery: We mount the heater (Electric or Wood-burning), install the LED lighting strips, and place the thermal sensors. We will leave the "tails" of the high-temp silicone cable ready for connection.
  • The Electrician: Responsible for the SWA run from the house, the final "live" termination into the Harvia Power Unit/Transformer, and the issuance of the Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC).

Delivery & Installation +

Delivery & Installation Protocol: Harvia Alpina View Medium

Site Readiness & Technical Standards

The Alpina View Medium is a high-mass, premium outdoor structure. To ensure a successful build and to protect your warranty, the following site standards must be met prior to our arrival or the commencement of your assembly.

1. The Foundation (Engineering Brief)

Total Static/Live Load: 1,800kg. * Requirement: A reinforced concrete pad (min 100mm thickness) or a structural-grade timber/steel frame engineered for 1.8 tonnes.

  • The "Level" Mandate: Because of the panoramic glass frontage, the base must be perfectly level. Any subsidence or slope will cause the glass panels to stress and may prevent the door from sealing.
  • Drainage: The area surrounding the base must have adequate drainage to ensure the base timbers do not sit in standing water.

2. Logistics & Access (The "Last Mile")

  • The Pallet: The unit arrives as a single, oversized pallet weighing 1,295kg (Gross).
  • Access Requirements: We require a firm, flat surface for offloading. If your build site is not accessible by a pallet truck (e.g., across soft lawns or up steep steps), you must notify us in advance.
  • The 24-Hour Inspection: Due to the scale of the glass facade, all components must be checked for transit damage within 24 hours of delivery.

3. Utility Preparation (Project Specific)

Depending on your selected proposal, the following must be ready:

  • For Proposal 1 (Wood-burning): * Ensure there is a 1-metre fire-rated clearance from the chimney exit to any overhanging trees or combustible structures.
  • For Proposal 2 (11kW Electric): * Your electrician must have a 50-Amp dedicated feed ready.
  • All internal cabling provided by your electrician must be SiHF-JB high-temperature silicone (rated to 180°C).

4. Installation Pathways & Warranty

  • Pathway A: Professional Installation Service
    • Scope: We handle the full 1.2-tonne timber assembly, the glass alignment, the chimney/heater mounting, and the initial roofing application.
    • Benefit: You receive the 2-Year Comprehensive Warranty covering structural labour.
  • Pathway B: Independent Contractor
    • Scope: Your team handles the build. We provide the technical manuals and Harvia hardware.
    • Benefit: You receive the 1-Year Parts-Only Warranty. Your contractor assumes responsibility for the structural seal and glass alignment.

5. Mandatory External Stewardship

To validate the warranty of a solid-spruce outdoor unit, two steps must be completed within 7 days of installation:

  • Waterproofing: The roof membrane (EPDM or Bitumen) must be fully secured.
  • Preservation: All exterior timber must be treated with an appropriate high-quality UV-resistant wood oil or preservative to protect the 40mm spruce from moisture ingress.
Warranty +

Harvia Alpina View Medium Warranty

Your Harvia Alpina View Medium (model ALP-M-V-DGR) is a five-person insulated outdoor element cabin, built in Nordic Spruce with Linden benches and a double-glazed grey panorama glass, and supplied with a choice of the Harvia Linear 18 wood-burner or the Cilindro PC110E 11 kW electric heater with Fenix control. Caring for it correctly keeps your cover valid and your cabin performing for years to come. Nothing in this document affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

1.Coverage Tiers

Your level of cover depends on how the cabin is installed.

Pathway A: Professional Installation Service. Where the cabin is assembled and installed by Balance Recovery's professional installation service, you receive a 2-year comprehensive structural and cabin warranty (covering the Nordic Spruce frame, cabin construction and assembly workmanship against manufacturing defects) together with a 2-year Harvia hardware warranty (covering the heater and control unit). This is consistent with Harvia's official domestic warranty term of 2 years for correctly and professionally installed sauna cabins.
Pathway B: Independent Carpenter or Self-Assembly. Where the cabin is assembled by an independent third party or by the owner, cover is limited to a 1-year parts-only warranty on the Harvia hardware. Structural alignment, weather-sealing and glass integrity become the responsibility of the party carrying out the assembly. All periods run from the date of original purchase. Warranty and maintenance services do not extend or renew the periods.
2. Activation and the 7-Day Rule
The Alpina View Medium is a timber structure that must be protected from the elements from the outset. Within 7 days of assembly you must apply a breathable, weatherproof timber treatment to all external timber and fully weatherproof the roof. You must also inspect the cabin on delivery. Any transit or storage damage, and any visible defect, must be reported to Balance Recovery in writing immediately, and no later than 7 days after delivery, in line with Harvia's condition for reporting transport and storage damage. As a consumer you should report any defect within a reasonable time of discovery, and no later than two months from when the defect became, or should have become, apparent. Failure to seal the timber and weatherproof the roof within the 7-day window voids claims for timber checking, warping or joint separation.
3. Electrical Compliance
For the electric heater configuration, all electrical work must be carried out by a qualified, registered electrician and connected to the mains in accordance with Harvia's installation manual and BS 7671. An Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) must be issued. Internal high-temperature wiring must use heat-resistant SiHF-JB silicone cable; standard PVC cable is not suitable and voids electrical cover. Harvia requires that proof of certified installation is presented, and Balance Recovery reserves the right to request the EIC before processing any electrical or heater claim. This mirrors Harvia's own condition that electrical products be installed by an authorised professional electrician with proof provided.
4. Glass Clause
The double-glazed grey panorama glass must be inspected within 24 hours of delivery any transit damage must be reported in writing within that window. Thereafter, cover extends to manufacturing stress fractures in the glazing. It does not extend to impact damage or thermal-shock damage caused in use. This glass clause is a Balance Recovery range provision; Harvia's own warranty expressly covers sauna doors and hinges as part of the cabin's manufacturing-defect cover.
5. Usage and Maintenance
To keep your cover valid, the cabin must be used, operated and maintained in accordance with Harvia's installation and operating manuals. In particular use the cabin only for its intended purpose and within its design conditions keep intake and exhaust ventilation unobstructed at all times; Re-treat the external timber periodically so it remains sealed and weatherproof use only sauna stones recommended by the heater manufacturer, piled loosely to allow airflow and clean using appropriate sauna cleaners, never a pressure washer.
6. Limitations and Exclusions
The warranty does not cover wear-and-tear parts, including heating elements, sauna stones, light bulbs, timers and relays; natural characteristics of timber, including colour change, pitch, minor cracks and checking, and movement such as shrinkage or swelling arising from the natural properties of the wood misuse, accident, extraordinary stresses or non-intended use damage or discolouration of timber caused by inadequate ventilation or an unsuitable installation site; unauthorised repair or modification, or the use of non-original Harvia spare parts, or removal or damage of product identification or safety markings transit or incorrect storage damage (see the inspection requirements in sections 2 and 4) and indirect or consequential losses. Commercial use carries different, shorter terms. Under Harvia's official terms, commercial (non-consumer) use of a sauna cabin is warranted for 1 year for manufacturing defects. Cover is voided if the cabin's main purpose changes between domestic and commercial use.
