Harvia Concept R Mini Combi | The Designer Hybrid for Compact Spaces

The Concept R Mini Combi (4.5kW – 7.5kW) is engineered for the modern wellness suite. While standard heaters occupy significant floor area, the Combi’s slimline wall-mount design (just 220mm wide) creates more space for luxury benching. Its signature rounded corners and black powder-coated finish provide an architectural look that complements the most sophisticated interior designs.

The "Combi" Advantage: Why this is the 2026 Industry Standard

  • Integrated Steamer: Features a built-in evaporator (1kW output on 4.5/6.0kW models; 1.5kW on 7.5kW) to create a gentle, moist sauna climate.
  • Aromatherapy Ready: Includes a specialised ceramic fragrance-and-herb bowl to infuse the cabin with therapeutic scents.
  • Triple-Wall Safety: The advanced multi-layered shell keeps external surfaces cooler, allowing for tighter safety clearances in small cabins (3–11 m³).
  • Service-First Design: Features an easily removable terminal box cover for fast electrical maintenance without disturbing the 15kg stone reservoir.

2026 Technical & Installation Standards (UK)

  • Flexible Mounting: Supplied as a space-saving wall-mounted unit. Can be converted to a freestanding floor model using the optional designer foot (CP-RMC-SF).
  • Electrical Compatibility: Optimised for 400V 3N but adaptable for UK Single-Phase (230V 1N). The 4.5kW and 6.0kW models are highly popular for residential upgrades with dedicated 32A-40A circuits.
  • Digital Hub: As an "E-Series" heater, a separate Combi control unit is required. We recommend the Harvia Xenio Combi (CX110C) for precise remote management of both humidity and temperature.
  • Safety Clearances: Requires a 900mm clearance to the ceiling and a 50mm safety distance to side walls, making it one of the most versatile heaters for tight installations.

The Concept R Mini Combi Family: Buying Guide

The A–Z Protocol: Designer Aesthetics Meet Steam Versatility

The Concept R Mini Combi range (4.5kW – 7.5kW) is the "Bio-Sauna" version of the designer Concept R. It features a high-grade stainless steel stone chamber paired with an integrated water reservoir, allowing you to switch between a dry Finnish sauna and a soft, humid steam experience.

1. Selection Matrix (Output & Humidity)

Because these units contain a 1kW steamer, they require precise room-volume matching to ensure the steam permeates the space effectively.

2. Delivery & Logistical "Source of Truth"

  • Palletised Security: To protect the internal water tank and the delicate "Triple-Shell" black finish, these units are shipped palletised.
  • The "Kerbside" Reality: Delivery is via a tail-lift vehicle. You must have a flat, hard-standing surface (like concrete) for the pallet truck to operate.
  • The 24-Hour Integrity Audit: * Visual: Check the black powder-coating for any transit scuffs.
    • Internal: Inspect the steamer tank area. Unlike standard heaters, "Combi" units have internal plumbing; ensure no parts have shifted or come loose during transit.
    • Deadline: Photographic evidence of transit damage must be reported within 24 hours to activate a claim.

3. The "Safe-Side" Electrical Brief

The Combi range is more electrically demanding than a standard heater. It is essentially two appliances in one housing.

  • The Dual-Circuit Mandate: Your electrician must run a supply that accounts for both the heating elements and the 1kW steamer.
  • Control Requirements: These units MUST be paired with a Combi-capable controller (e.g., Xenio CX110C). A standard controller cannot activate the steamer circuit.
  • High-Heat Cabling: You must use SiHF-JB Silicone Cable (180°C) for the final connection. Because the Combi runs for longer periods to generate steam, standard PVC cable is a significant fire risk and will void your warranty.
  • Main Fuse Context: For the 7.5kW Combi, the total draw is 8.5kW. On a single-phase supply, this is roughly 37 Amps. Your electrician must verify that your property's main service fuse can handle this load.

4. From Arrival to First Heat: The Protocol

A. Structural Mounting

A fully loaded 7.5kW Combi (Unit + 15kg Stones + Water) weighs approximately 40kg. Ensure your wall studs are reinforced.

B. Stone & Tank Prep

Wash your stones to prevent "dust-steam" and ensure the manual drain valve at the bottom of the heater is fully closed before adding water.

C. The Convection Stack

Place stones loosely in the centre. Do not block the steam outlet. The steam needs a clear path to rise from the internal tank into the room.

D. The "Dual-Burn" Commissioning

  1. Stage 1 (Dry): Run the heater at 80°C for 30 mins (door open) to cure the powder-coating.
  2. Stage 2 (Wet): Fill the tank and run the steamer for 20 mins. This flushes the system and ensures the humidity sensors are communicating with your Xenio hub.

5. Warranty & Stewardship

  • The EIC Rule: Your 2-year warranty is only valid if you retain the Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC).
  • Water Quality: Use only fresh tap water. Do not use pool/salt water, as this will corrode the steamer element.
  • Limescale: If you live in a hard-water area, the tank must be descaled regularly. Damage from limescale buildup is classified as a maintenance failure.

Infrastructure Guidance for Concept R Mini Combi (4.5kW – 7.5kW)

Notice to Property Owner: This document is for planning and coordination with your contractor. All electrical works must be carried out by a qualified, registered electrician. They are the final authority on cable sizing, circuit protection, and ensuring the installation complies with national wiring regulations. Please always defer to your electrician's professional judgment regarding the specific requirements of your property.

1. The Dual-Circuit Power Profile

The Concept R Mini Combi is a dual-function appliance. Your electrician must calculate the total load based on the heating elements and the 1.0kW integrated steamer running simultaneously.

Model

Combi 6.0

6.0 kW

2. Supply Configurations

  • 3-Phase (400V 3N): The recommended installation for balancing the load across phases and reducing individual fuse strain.
  • Single-Phase (230V 1N): Common for domestic retrofits.
    • Note for 7.5kW Combi: At 8.5kW total, the draw is approximately 37 Amps. Your electrician must verify that the property’s Main Service Fuse and the supply cable (SWA) can support this load alongside other household demands (e.g., electric showers or EV chargers).

3. The Silicone Cabling Mandate

Standard PVC-insulated cables are not suitable for the high-temperature, high-humidity environment behind a Combi heater.

  • Mandatory Material: All final connections from the sauna junction box to the heater terminals must be SiHF-JB Silicone Cable (rated to 180°C).
  • Why: Silicone maintains its integrity under thermal cycling. Using standard cable is a fire risk and will void the manufacturer's warranty.

4. Control Hub & Sensor Logic

  • Controller Compatibility: This unit must be paired with a Combi-capable digital controller (e.g., Harvia Xenio CX110C). Standard "heater-only" hubs cannot manage the steamer circuit.
  • Safety Sensor (OBT): The temperature sensor/limit switch must be mounted on the wall directly above the centre of the heater, 150mm below the ceiling. This is the critical safety "cut-out" for both the heater and steamer.
  • RCBO Protection: We recommend a dedicated Type B RCBO to manage the specific resistance profiles of the Combi heating elements and prevent nuisance tripping.

5. Electrician’s Sign-Off & Warranty

To validate the 24-month warranty, your electrician must provide an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC). This confirms that the unit is correctly earthed, the cable sizing is appropriate for the run length, and the system is safe for use.

Delivery & Installation +

Delivery & Installation Manual: Concept R Mini Combi

Technical Protocol for 4.5kW, 6.0kW, and 7.5kW Models

This manual outlines the specific requirements for the "Bio-Sauna" Combi range. Following these steps ensures the unit is structurally sound, electrically safe, and that the integrated steamer system is calibrated for first use.

1. Delivery & The "Bio-Sauna" Audit

The Concept R Mini Combi includes internal water-management components.

  • The Format: These units are shipped palletised to prevent the internal steamer tank from shifting.
  • Site Access: Delivery is typically at the kerbside via a tail-lift. Please ensure a flat, hard-standing surface is available for the pallet truck.
  • The 24-Hour Critical Check: Unbox immediately. Inspect the black powder-coated exterior for scuffs.
    • Steamer Check: Open the top cover and verify the water tank is securely seated and the manual drain valve at the base is intact.
    • Note: Report any transit issues within 24 hours. Once the unit is wall-mounted, cosmetic transit insurance expires.

2. Preparing the Mounting Surface

The Combi unit is heavier than the standard R Mini due to the water reservoir and internal plumbing.

  • Structural Load: A fully loaded 7.5kW Combi (Heater + 15kg Stones + 5L Water) has a static weight of approximately 40kg.
  • Reinforcement: We strongly recommend anchoring the mounting bracket into structural timber studs or a 20mm plywood backing plate behind the sauna cladding.
  • Clearance: Maintain a 50mm gap between the bottom of the heater and the floor to allow the steamer's intake vents to draw cool air.

3. Electrical Guidance (For the Owner & Contractor)

This is a Dual-Circuit appliance. It requires a specific wiring configuration to manage the stones and the steamer independently.

  • Consulting a Professional: This installation must be carried out by a qualified, registered electrician. They are the final authority on safety and local wiring standards.
  • The "Combi" Controller: This heater must be paired with a Combi-capable control hub (e.g., Xenio CX110C). A standard heater-only controller will not have the required circuitry to operate the steamer.
  • The Silicone Mandate: All wiring from the wall to the heater terminals must be SiHF-JB Silicone Cable (180°C). Standard PVC cable will melt or become brittle due to the higher ambient humidity and heat of a Combi system.

4. Mechanical Commissioning

  • Stone Prep: Wash the 15kg of stones. Stack them loosely in the centre. Important: Do not allow stones to block or fall into the steam discharge vent located near the water tank.
  • Water Tank Setup: Ensure the manual drain valve (located at the bottom front of the unit) is fully closed.
  • Fragrance Cup: Place the soapstone fragrance cup over the steam vent. Note: Aromas should only be placed in this cup, never directly in the water tank.

5. The "First Heat" Protocol

Before your first session, the unit must undergo a two-stage commissioning process:

  1. Dry Stage: Run the heater at 80°C for 30 minutes with the sauna door open. This cures the "Triple-Shell" powder coating and clears manufacturing oils from the elements.
  2. Steam Stage: Fill the tank with 5 litres of fresh water and activate the "Steam" mode for 20 minutes. This flushes the internal reservoir and verifies that the humidity sensors are communicating with the control hub.
  3. Completion: Retain the Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) provided by your electrician to validate the 24-month warranty.

Concept R Mini Combi Series Warranty

Warranty Guidelines for 4.5kW, 6.0kW, and 7.5kW Models

The Concept R Mini Combi is a sophisticated "Bio-Sauna" instrument. These guidelines explain the conditions required to protect your 24-month warranty and ensure the longevity of both the heating elements and the integrated steam system.

1. Warranty Duration & Scope

The duration of coverage is strictly determined by the installation environment:

  • Domestic/Private Use: 24 Months (2 Years).
  • Commercial/Public Use: 6 Months.
    • Note: Any unit installed in a shared facility (e.g., boutique hotels, gyms, or spas) falls under the Commercial 6-month term due to the increased operational hours.

2. Professional Installation Standards

For these guidelines to be met and the warranty to remain valid, the following must be documented:

  • Electrician’s Authority: All electrical work must be performed by a qualified, registered electrician. You must retain the Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) as proof of a professional, safe installation.
  • Cabling Requirements: Use of non-silicone (PVC) cabling within the sauna heat zone voids the warranty. Only the SiHF-JB Silicone Cable (180°C) is approved for the final connection.
  • Control Hubs: The unit must be paired with an approved Combi-capable controller (e.g., Xenio CX110C). Damage resulting from the use of incompatible third-party control systems is not covered.

3. Steamer Stewardship & Water Quality

The integrated 1kW steamer is a precision component. Its lifespan is directly linked to water management:

  • Fresh Water Only: Never use pool water, salt water, or "softened" water containing high salt concentrations. This causes rapid corrosion of the steamer element, which is not a manufacturing defect.
  • Limescale Maintenance: In hard-water areas, the steamer tank must be descaled regularly. Failure of sensors or elements due to limescale buildup is classified as a lack of maintenance and is excluded from coverage.
  • Fragrance Placement: Aromas must be placed only in the provided soapstone cup. Adding oils directly into the water reservoir can cause "foaming over," which can lead to electrical shorts and damage not covered by warranty.

4. Element Protection & Airflow

  • The "Loose Stack" Guideline: Stones must be loosely stacked around the elements to allow convection cooling. If elements fail due to warping or "heat-clashing" caused by over-packing the stone chamber, the claim will be rejected.
  • Stone Purity: Stones must be washed prior to the "First Heat" to prevent dust from baking onto them and insulating the elements, which can lead to premature burnout.

5. Cosmetic & Transit Integrity

  • 24-Hour Inspection Window: Any cosmetic damage to the black powder-coated exterior must be reported with photos within 24 hours of delivery.
  • Post-Installation: Once the unit has been wired or wall-mounted, it is considered accepted in its cosmetic condition.

6. Limitation of Liability

These guidelines cover the repair or replacement of faulty hardware only. Harvia/Sentiotec does not cover:

  • Labour costs for the removal or reinstallation of the heater.
  • Consequential loss of business or personal use.
  • Damage caused by external power surges or fluctuating voltage.
