Harvia Cilindro E-Series Steel | Professional Digital Pillar Heaters

The Harvia Cilindro E-Series (PC70E, PC90E, PC110E) is the architectural gold standard for modern Finnish saunas. By removing integrated dials, the E-Series offers a pure, unobstructed stainless steel pillar design that puts the focus on its massive stone mass (80kg – 120kg).

Engineered for those who demand precision, these "E" models are designed to be operated by external digital control units. This allows for remote WiFi activation, degree-perfect temperature accuracy, and a cleaner aesthetic—freeing the heater from bulky manual knobs and allowing for seamless bench embedding.

Why the Cilindro E-Series is the 2026 Premium Choice:

1. The "Smart-Home" Foundation

As an E-Series unit, this heater acts as the engine for your digital sauna suite.

  • WiFi Integration: Pair with a Harvia Xenio WiFi controller to pre-heat your sauna from your smartphone.
  • Minimalist Aesthetics: Without integrated dials, the heater maintains a slim, professional 320mm-365mm profile, making it the top choice for glass-fronted modern saunas.

2. Dual-Zone Steam Versatility

The open-grille steel frame isn't just for looks; it allows you to physically "play" with the steam:

  • Soft & Humid: Splash water on the sides of the stone column for a moisture-rich, gentle heat.
  • Sharp & Intense: Pour water directly onto the top for a classic, bracing Finnish steam boost.

3. Rapid Thermal Recovery

The E-Series is built for high-frequency use. With a massive reservoir of up to 120kg of stones, these heaters act as a thermal battery—staying hot longer and ensuring the sauna room dries out completely after your session, protecting your timber from moisture damage.

From Order Confirmation to Your First "Digital Pillar" Session

The Cilindro "E" series (PC70E, PC90E, PC110E) is the professional’s choice for a high-mass pillar heater. By removing the manual dials from the base, these heaters offer a sleek, uninterrupted steel mesh look and are operated via a digital control panel mounted outside the sauna.

Step 1: Selecting Your Power & Control Logic

Because these are "E" models, they do not function alone. You must pair these heaters with a separate control unit (like the Harvia Xenio CX110 or CX170).

Step 2: The Delivery (The Arrival)

The Cilindro "E" is a heavy-duty delivery. It is vital to prepare for the weight.

  • The Pallet: These usually arrive on a pallet. You will receive the tall stainless steel pillar and 4 to 6 heavy boxes of stones (20kg each).
  • The Total Weight: For the PC110E, you are looking at nearly 140kg of total shipment. Ensure you have a flat area for the driver to drop the pallet and a second person to help move the stones.
  • The 24-Hour Inspection: Slide the steel mesh pillar out of its box immediately. Check the outer frame for any "out of round" bends or shipping damage. Report any issues to us with photos within 24 hours.

Step 3: Pre-Installation Prep

  1. The Stone Wash: This is a big task for the "E" series! You have up to 120kg of rock to rinse. Rinsing them in batches prevents "quarry dust" from baking onto your elements.
  2. Floor Reinforcement: Ensure your floor is level. Once loaded, a PC110E weighs as much as two grown adults. The floor must be able to support this concentrated weight.
  3. Control Placement: Decide where your digital touch-panel will be mounted (outside the sauna). You will also need to plan the cable route for the temperature sensor that will sit on the ceiling above the heater.

Step 4: The Professional Setup

The "E" series requires a "System" installation.

Note: Always defer to your Registered Electrician. The PC110E, in particular, requires high-amperage wiring.

  • The Relay Box: Your electrician will install a power unit (the "brain") that connects the wall panel to the heater.
  • The Silicone Rule: All wiring inside the sauna must be High-Temperature Silicone Cable (SiHF-JB). Standard house wire will fail under the intense thermal mass of 100kg+ of hot stones.
  • The Sensor: This model relies on an external sensor mounted on the ceiling to tell the digital panel when the room is at temperature.

Step 5: The First Heat Ceremony

  1. The Artistic Stack: Place stones loosely around the elements. Cover the elements completely but leave gaps for air to rise through the pillar.
  2. The Digital Burn-Off: Set your Xenio/Xafir panel to max.
  3. The 60-Minute Run: Leave the sauna door open. Because of the massive stone volume, the "new" smell can be quite strong. After an hour, the elements are cured, the stones are dry, and you are ready for your first session.

Stewardship & Warranty

  • The EIC Document: Save the Electrical Installation Certificate from your electrician. You will need this to validate your 2-year warranty.
  • Löylü Control: With an "E" model pillar, you have total control. Pour water on the sides for soft humidity, or the top for a heat spike—all monitored by your digital thermostat.
Electrical Supply - IMPORTANT +

Cilindro "E" Steel Series (6.8 kW | 9.0 kW | 10.8 kW)

CRITICAL NOTICE: The information below is for your project planning and budget estimation. You must consult a Registered Electrician to carry out this installation. The electrical demands of these heaters are significant, and you must always defer to your electrician’s professional judgment regarding the safety and capacity of your home's electrical system.

1. Load Requirements & Circuit Protection

Verify the property's main fuse capacity before installation. The PC110E is a heavy load and generally requires a 3-phase supply in a domestic setting to avoid overloading a single-phase 60A/100A main fuse.

2. Control System Architecture

These are "E" (External) models. They have no internal switching. The installation must include:

  • External Power Unit: (e.g., Harvia Xenio CX110/CX170) to be mounted in a dry, ventilated location outside the sauna.
  • Temperature Sensor: Must be ceiling-mounted directly above the heater. This sensor includes a high-limit safety cut-out.
  • Control Panel: Low-voltage digital interface connected to the power unit.

3. Internal Wiring Specifications

  • Cable Type: Final connections from the wall junction box (or power unit) to the heater terminals must be made using SiHF-JB Silicone Cable (rated to 180°C).
  • Prohibited Materials: Standard PVC, Arctic, or LSOH cables must not be used inside the sauna cabin as they will degrade and fail under high thermal stress.
  • Grounding: Ensure the heater chassis is bonded correctly to the earth terminal in the base of the unit.

4. Sensor Placement & Safety

The sensor is the primary safety device for the system.

  • Position: Ceiling, centered over the heater.
  • Clearance: Do not place the sensor near an air supply vent, as the cooling effect will prevent the sensor from accurately reading the room temperature, causing the heater to run indefinitely.

5. Certification

Upon completion, the installer must provide an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC). This document is required to validate the manufacturer's 2-year warranty.

Harvia Cilindro "E" Range: The Buying Guide

What to expect from order to your first sweat.

The Cilindro "E" (PC70E, PC90E, PC110E) is basically a massive cage of rocks. It’s for people who want that "traditional" feel where you can throw water anywhere on the heater. Because it’s an "E" model, it’s just a heater—you’ll need a separate brain (control panel) to make it work.

1. Pick your power (Don’t over-spec it)

The 10.8kW is tempting, but it's a beast. Check your room size against this table:

Model

Power

Room Size (m³)

Stone Weight

PC70E

6.8 kW

6 – 10

80 kg

PC90E

9.0 kW

8 – 14

90 kg

PC110E

10.8 kW

9 – 18

120 kg

Crucial: These do not have knobs on them. If you buy this heater, you must also buy a control panel (like a Harvia Xenio). Without it, you’ve just got a very expensive metal sculpture.

2. The Delivery (It’s heavy, be ready)

This isn’t a standard parcel.

  • The Load: You’re going to get one tall box with the heater and 4 to 6 heavy boxes of stones.
  • Total Weight: We’re talking about 100kg to 140kg of total weight. The driver will drop the pallet as close as they can, but you’ll need a plan to move those stone boxes to your sauna. They are heavy—save your back.
  • Inspect it: Check the steel mesh as soon as it arrives. If it's been squashed or dented in the van, tell us immediately.

3. The Preperation

Before your electrician turns up, do these two things:

  1. Wash the stones: They come covered in grey dust from the quarry. If you don't rinse them in a bucket first, your first sauna session will smell like a building site.

  2. Level the floor: Once this thing is full of rocks, it’s not moving. Make sure your floor is dead level, or the pillar will look like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

4. The Electrician Part

Don't try to DIY this. It’s a high-voltage bit of kit.

  • The PC110E (10.8kW): This almost always needs a 3-phase supply. If you're putting this in a standard house, your electrician needs to check your main fuse first. It pulls a lot of juice.
  • Wiring: They must use silicone cable inside the sauna. If they use regular house wire, it will melt. Simple as that.

5. First Use (The "Burn-Off")

The first time you turn it on, it’s going to smell. That’s the elements heating up for the first time.

  • Door Open: Crank it to max and leave the door open for an hour.
  • Don't panic: If there's a tiny bit of smoke or a strong metallic smell, it's normal.
  • Stones: Don't pack the stones in like a puzzle. Keep them loose so air can move. If the air can't move, the heater will overheat and cut out.

Harvia Cilindro "E" Series: Warranty Statement

Maintaining your 2-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty

The Harvia Cilindro "E" (PC70E, PC90E, PC110E) is a professional-grade heater. To ensure your investment is protected, Harvia requires strict adherence to installation and maintenance protocols. Failure to comply with the following will result in the voiding of your warranty.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE: The Harvia Cilindro "E" is a high-performance electrical appliance. For your safety and the protection of your property, you must consult with and employ a Registered Electrician for the installation of this system. Always defer to their professional judgment regarding local building codes and electrical safety. Self-installation or installation by an unqualified individual will void all warranties and may pose a significant fire and safety risk.

1. Professional Installation Requirement

This is a high-voltage, high-amperage system.

  • Certified Labor: The heater and its external control system must be installed by a Registered Electrician.
  • The EIC Mandate: You must retain the Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) issued by your electrician. This document is the only accepted proof of a safe, professional installation. Harvia will require a copy of this certificate to process any warranty claim.

2. Electrical Components & Wiring

  • The Silicone Rule: Standard PVC or "Arctic" cabling is strictly prohibited inside the sauna cabin. The use of non-heat-rated cable will void the warranty immediately. Your electrician must use SiHF-JB Silicone Cable (rated to 180°C).
  • Control Units: The warranty covers the heater when used with compatible Harvia control units. Using third-party, non-approved controllers may void the warranty if electrical damage occurs.

3. Stone Maintenance (Critical for Pillar Heaters)

The heating elements in a Cilindro are under constant stress from the weight of 80kg to 120kg of stone.

  • Airflow Management: Stones must be stacked loosely. If stones are packed too tightly, airflow is restricted, causing the elements to overheat and fail. Element burnout caused by restricted airflow is not covered under warranty.
  • The Annual Shuffle: You are required to remove and re-stack the stones at least once a year. Small, crumbled stone fragments must be discarded as they block the air intake at the base of the heater.
  • Stone Quality: Only use Harvia-approved sauna stones. Soft or poor-quality stones that crumble easily can damage the elements and the steel frame.

4. Water Usage Standards

  • Fresh Water Only: Only clean, domestic tap water may be used on the stones.
  • Corrosion Warning: Water from swimming pools (chlorine) or the sea (salt) will cause rapid corrosion of the stainless steel mesh and the heating elements. Damage resulting from salt or chlorinated water is strictly excluded from the warranty.

5. Coverage Exclusions

The warranty does not cover:

  • Damage caused by improper stone stacking or "bucket-pouring" of water.
  • Limescale buildup on elements caused by hard water.
  • Discoloration of the steel over time (this is a natural characteristic of stainless steel at high temperatures).
  • Professional use in commercial settings (Gyms/Spas) carries a reduced warranty period of 3 months unless otherwise stated.
