The Saunum Experience represents a significant advancement in sauna technology. Because Saunum units use a patented air-mixing and climate-balancing system, their installation requirements differ from those of traditional heaters. Please ensure these guidelines are followed precisely to ensure your system's performance.
1. Delivery Logistics & Initial Inspection
We provide free delivery on all Saunum systems. Due to the specialised nature of these units, they are dispatched via a dedicated international courier service.
-
Kerbside Fulfilment: Delivery is provided to your doorstep. Saunum heaters have a significant stone capacity (ranging from 55kg to 105kg, depending on your model). Please ensure you have adequate assistance available to move the components to your installation area.
-
The 24-Hour Audit: You must perform a comprehensive inspection of the unit immediately upon receipt.
The Housing: Inspect the stainless steel exterior for any transit-related scuffs or structural damage.
Fan System: Ensure the fan outlet is free of packaging debris or obstructions.
Reporting Requirement: Any transit damage or missing components must be reported to our team within 24 hours of delivery to protect your warranty and enable priority resolution.
2. Electrical Supply & Control Requirements
The integrated climate-balancing fan system requires specialised electrical planning.
Professional Consultation
Once your order is placed, you must consult with a certified electrician. It is strictly the customer’s responsibility to ensure the property’s electrical supply and fuse ratings are sufficient for a Saunum installation.
Power Requirements
While the smallest units can operate on a standard single-phase supply, most Saunum units require a 3-phase (400V) supply to handle the combined load of the heater and fan.
-
2.3kW – 3.6kW Models: Single-phase, generally require 16A–20A fuses.
-
4.5kW – 6.0kW Models: 3-phase, generally require 10A fuses (C10).
-
8.0kW – 9.0kW Models: 3-phase, generally require 16A fuses (C16).
-
10.5kW – 12.0kW Models: 3-phase, generally require 20A fuses (C20).
-
13.2kW – 19.8kW Models: 3-phase, generally require 25A–32A fuses.
Control Systems
The Saunum Experience requires a compatible advanced control unit, such as the Saunum Leil, to independently manage the heating elements and the 3-speed climate-balancing fan.
3. Strategic Positioning & Installation
To facilitate the patented air-mixing technology, the physical placement of the unit is critical.
-
Structural Placement: The heater must be installed on a stable, load-bearing wall.
-
Air Outlet Alignment: For the climate-balancing system to function correctly, the air outlet must be positioned below the level of the sauna benches. This allows the unit to draw in the hot air from the ceiling, mix it with cooler air, and redistribute it evenly—eliminating the "cold foot" effect.
-
Ventilation: Despite the internal fan system, standard sauna ventilation (intake and exhaust) is still required to ensure fresh oxygen levels within the cabin.
4. Initial Commissioning (The First Run)
Before your first session, the heating elements must be burned in to remove manufacturing residues.
- Run the heater at 70°C for 30 minutes.
- Keep the sauna door open and ensure the area is well-ventilated.
- Once the burn-in is complete, you may place the washed stones and Himalayan salt balls into their designated positions.
5. Regulatory Compliance & Liability
Important: We serve as a specialist supplier, not a certified electrical contractor. All electrical work, particularly involving 3-phase supplies and integrated fan systems, must comply with BS 7671. We accept no liability for issues arising from inadequate power supply, incorrect fuse selection, or failure to position the air outlet at the manufacturer-specified height.
