The Insignia Signature 18kW Commercial Steam Generator Set (Platinum) is the flagship of the Signature range — the most powerful generator with the complete commercial therapy set, for the largest spa, gym, hotel and wellness steam rooms. It's the generator that produces the steam, supplied with salt therapy, aromatherapy, mood lighting, water treatment, an auto descaler and a heavy-duty exhaust fan. With 18kW of output it suits steam rooms of around 16–22 m³.

The Signature generator is built from stainless steel inside and out and uses Sectional Heating Technology — nine 2 kW heating elements fire together for a fast start, then stage down to hold temperature efficiently. As the largest unit it uses two 3/4" steam outlets for even steam distribution. A waterproof digital touch-control panel runs temperature, run time, humidity, lighting, salt and aroma, with a commercial Fast-Steam mode (80 °C standby, steam in seconds, energy-saving auto-revert to standby after 30 minutes) and an SOS emergency alarm. Automatic fill, top-up and drain, plus overheat and low-water protection, keep operation safe. The Platinum set adds an Auto Twin Descaler, a Twin Halotherapy Salt Atomiser, a Twin Aromatherapy Atomiser, six colour-changing LED lights, a water-treatment cartridge, a stainless-steel steam nozzle, an aluminium caution sign and a heavy-duty exhaust fan.

As an 18kW unit it must be connected to a 3-phase (380–415V) supply by a qualified electrician — it will not run on a standard single-phase circuit. It is delivered two-man kerbside with free UK delivery; professional installation is available, or it can be fitted by your own qualified trades. (The same generator switches between domestic and commercial modes.)

Steam rooms are for healthy adults only. Display the caution sign and observe the following (per Insignia's safety guidance):

  • Never allow children to use the steam function — this is for adults only, and never leave children unattended near the steam room.
  • Do not use the steam room if you are pregnant, have a heart condition, or have low or high blood pressure. If unsure, consult a GP before use.
  • Consult a GP before use if you have any underlying health condition that could be aggravated, or if you take any medication (especially with drowsy side-effects).
  • Exit immediately if you feel dizzy, faint or short of breath, and consult a GP if symptoms develop.
  • Never use the steam room after alcohol or other substances.
  • Aromatherapy: use only suitable, properly diluted essential oils per the manufacturer's guidance; some oils can cause irritation or allergic reactions — keep oils away from children.
  • Be aware of the steam-outlet position — never sit in close proximity to it.
  • Proper ventilation is recommended. Always turn the power and water supply off after use.

The 18kW is the largest unit, for the biggest commercial rooms. High ceilings, heavy tiling or stone, and frequent door use raise heat loss.

2. Check your electrical supply (important) This 18kW model is 3-phase (380–415V) only — it cannot run on single-phase. You'll need a qualified electrician to provide a 3-phase circuit with an RCD and isolator.

3. Plan water, drainage, ventilation and the generator location The generator needs a cold-water feed and a drain, and should sit in a dry, ventilated plant area within a short pipe run of the steam room. The heavy-duty exhaust fan needs ducting to outside. The 18kW has two steam outlets (two separate copper/stainless pipes). Steam and drain pipes must be copper or stainless steel (never plastic).

4. Why the Platinum (commercial) set This Platinum set is the complete commercial therapy kit — auto descaler, salt therapy, aromatherapy, chromotherapy lighting and a heavy-duty exhaust fan, on top of the largest generator. The Premium set steps down to the descaler only; the Starter drops that too. An approved water processor enables the 2-year warranty upgrade.

Installation (professional available, or your own fitter) The set is supplied for installation into a prepared steam-room enclosure. The generator is mounted in a dry, ventilated plant area within pipe reach of the room; the two steam outlets, descaler, salt and aromatherapy atomisers, LED lights, exhaust fan and control panel are fitted, the exhaust is ducted to outside, and the unit is connected to water, drain and power and commissioned. Professional installation is available, or your own qualified trades can install it.

Electrical (must read — 3-phase only) This 18kW generator is hard-wired to a 3-phase 380–415V supply by a qualified electrician — it cannot run on single-phase. Key requirements (per the install manual):

  • A 5-core supply to the generator terminals (L1/L2/L3, neutral, earth); minimum live/neutral 4.0 mm², earth 2.5 mm² (Insignia specify 5 × 4 mm² for the 18kW) — the electrician will size to the load and to BS 7671.
  • An RCD must be fitted on the supply, plus a means of isolation (the controller's on/off does not cut the mains).
  • All work to comply with Part P and local/national wiring regulations, by a competent electrician.

Water & drainage A cold-water feed only (½", through the treatment cartridge and a flexible stainless hose; fit a pressure-reducing valve if supply pressure exceeds ~8 bar) and a ¾" drain (copper/stainless, downward gradient to waste). No water pump is required.

The Insignia Signature steam generator comes with a 12-month warranty as standard, which upgrades to two years with the additional purchase and installation of an approved Insignia water processor/filter.
