Two things to know before you order: Insignia's published warranty terms require a domestic environment and exclude non-domestic installations unless the product is specifically indicated as commercial; and in a business setting HSG282 requires ozone to be paired with a maintained residual — free chlorine 3–5mg/l or total active bromine 4–6mg/l — alongside a written legionella risk assessment under ACOP L8. 1. Place Your Order & Site Check

  • The Footprint: Rectangular chassis at 1900mm x 780mm x 930mm. With the mandatory 600mm service clearance on all sides, reserve a plot of approximately 3.1m x 2.0m. If that plot is tight, the Icefall at 2000 x 750mm is the narrower option.
  • The "Zero-Plumb" Promise: A true plug and play system. No permanent plumbing. We need access to a standard garden hose for filling and a drain-off point — a foul drain or soakaway — for water changes.

2. Navigating Your Property

  • The Width Factor: At 780mm wide, the Insignia clears many standard UK side gates. Measure your narrowest point including posts, latches, drainpipes and any step.
  • The 900mm Rule: We require a minimum 900mm clear route width and a 2.1m straight run either side of any gate, so the 1900mm body has swing room. Verify via your access photos.

How many people can use it per day?

Around five to six. That derives from HSG282's bather-load rule of 100 times the water volume in cubic metres between full water changes, applied to approximately 400 litres and Insignia's weekly change interval. Push beyond it and you must drain and refill more often, with a chill-down cycle each time.

Do I need an electrician to install it?

You need a qualified electrician for the socket, not for the bath. The unit is 13-amp plug and play at 870W. It must run from a dedicated, RCD-protected, IP66-rated outdoor socket. Extension leads are strictly prohibited. Keep the electrical certificate — Insignia require it for any warranty claim.

Will it fit through my gate?

Possibly, but measure first. The chassis is 780mm wide against UK side gates commonly sold at 760mm to 1070mm. The binding constraint is usually turning the 1900mm body through the opening, not the gate leaf. Allow 900mm clear route width and a 2.1m straight run either side.

What does it cost to run?

Our estimate is roughly £16 to £48 a month in cold mode, modelled from the 870W rating against Ofgem's 26.11p per kWh capped rate for July to September 2026. Use the upper figure if you plan to hold 0°C through a warm summer. Heat mode at 40°C costs considerably more.

How long does the first chill-down take?

Insignia do not publish a chill-down time. From our experience of comparable 870W systems, allow 8–14 hours from a mains fill to setpoint and switch it on the night before your first session. Filling by hose typically takes 25 to 35 minutes. It is not faulty on day one.

Stage 1 — Before you order: the feasibility check

Five things decide whether this bath can go where you want it. Work through them before you pay. If you are unsure about any of them, send us photos of your access route and the intended position and we will tell you what we think.

1. The access route

  • Minimum clear route width: 900mm. The bath is 780mm wide, but you need working clearance either side of it.
  • Minimum straight run either side of any gate or corner: 2.1m. This is the constraint that catches people out. The unit is 1900mm long and cannot pivot in a narrow side alley — the gate may be wide enough while the alley is not.
  • Overhead clearance: 2.0m. The bath is 930mm tall on its wheels, but it needs to be tilted over steps and thresholds. Check for eaves, gutters, low branches and porch roofs.
  • Measure the narrowest point, not the widest. Include gate posts, latches, drainpipes, meter boxes, window sills and any step.
  • Check the surface. The castors work on smooth, hard, level ground. They are useless on gravel, grass, soft ground or steps — those sections need lifting.

Gates and fence panels can usually be removed temporarily and that is often the simplest answer. Tell us if the route is tight and we will plan around it.

2. The base

The bath must sit on a level, load-bearing, continuous surface. Acceptable bases:

  • 100mm reinforced concrete pad
  • Paving slabs laid on a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base
  • Timber decking with bearers at 400mm centres or closer, sized by a competent person

Not acceptable: grass, bare earth, loose gravel, or decking of unknown construction. The unit will settle unevenly, the shell can flex, and damage caused by an inadequate base is not covered by warranty.

Levelness: within 5mm across the full footprint. An out-of-level bath flexes, sits with a crooked waterline and can interfere with filtration.

The point-loading warning. This is the most commonly missed risk with any wheeled plunge bath. Because the unit stands on castors, the full in-use weight — the bath, several hundred litres of water and a bather — is carried on four small contact patches rather than spread across the footprint. That will punch through thin decking boards, crack unsupported paving and dent soft asphalt. Either site it on a continuous rigid surface, or use spreader pads or a full-width bearer plate under the castors.

If you are siting it on a deck, balcony or any elevated structure, have it checked by a structural engineer first. A filled plunge bath is at or beyond the design load of standard domestic decking. This is not us being cautious for the sake of it — deck failures under filled tubs are a known problem.

3. Clearance around the unit

600mm on all four sides. This is Insignia's own figure and it is not negotiable. The chiller needs airflow to work and to hold its rated temperature, and every future service visit needs access to the plant bay. If the bath is boxed in, a warranty engineer cannot reach it — and moving a filled bath is not an option.

Do not site it hard against a wall or fence. Do not enclose it in a shelter without ventilation.

4. Power

Covered in full in Stage 4 below. The short version: the electrical supply must be installed and certified before delivery day. Turning up to a bath you cannot switch on is the single most common cause of a wasted week.

5. Drainage

You will be emptying and refilling this bath regularly. Plan where the water goes before you site it: a foul drain or a soakaway that will not flood your garden or your neighbour's. Site the bath so a drain hose can gravity-feed. Never discharge treated or ozonated water into a watercourse.

Stage 2 — Pre-delivery checklist

Work through this and confirm it back to us before we book your delivery date. If we arrive and the site is not ready, the delivery is abortive and a redelivery charge of [ABORTIVE FEE] applies — we would much rather move your date than charge you.

  • Base is built, cured, level within 5mm and load-bearing
  • ☐ 600mm clearance available on all four sides of the intended position
  • ☐ Access route measured: minimum 900mm wide, 2.1m straight run at gates, 2.0m overhead
  • ☐ Gates or fence panels removed if needed
  • ☐ Route cleared of pots, furniture, bins and anything breakable

If you need to change your delivery date, give us at least 48 hours' notice and there is no charge.

Stage 3 — Delivery day

What happens:

  1. The carrier calls or texts ahead to confirm the window.
  2. A tail-lift vehicle arrives. The pallet is lowered on the tail-lift and moved by pump truck.
  3. The bath is placed at the nearest hard standing to your address — typically the kerb, driveway or garage entrance. The driver cannot enter your property or garden.
  4. Someone over 18 signs for it.
  5. Inspect it before the driver leaves. Photograph the pallet and the unit from all sides. If there is visible damage, note it on the delivery paperwork and photograph that too.

Please do not sign "unchecked" and deal with it later. Signing does not remove your legal rights — see "Your rights" below — but a photograph taken at the kerb makes any claim straightforward for everyone.

Report any damage or shortage to us on [PHONE] or [EMAIL] as soon as you find it, with photographs. Do this within 48 hours if you can. That is a request for practical reasons, not a limit on your rights.

Stage 4 — Getting it from the kerb to its position

This part is yours, and it is worth planning properly.

  • People: two able adults minimum on hard, level ground using a sack barrow or spa dolly. Four for any steps, gradients, soft ground or tight turns. Insignia do not publish a dry weight, but a unit of this size and construction is well beyond safe single-person handling.
  • Equipment: a spa dolly or heavy-duty sack barrow, lifting straps, and boards or ply sheets to run the castors across soft ground and protect your paving.
  • Technique: keep it upright. Do not tip it on its side or end. Do not drag it by the cabinet or the bar counter. Lift from the chassis.
  • Remove the packaging outside, where you have room, before the final approach.
  • Lock the castors as soon as it is in final position.

If your access is genuinely difficult, tell us before you order. A crane or hiab lift typically costs £500–£700 and is arranged separately — but it is far cheaper to know that in advance than to discover it on the day.

Stage 5 — Electrical requirements

The bath is plug and play. The socket is not. The unit itself plugs into a 13 amp socket with no wiring required. What you need in place is a compliant outdoor supply, and that is a job for a qualified electrician.

What your electrician needs to install

  • A weatherproof outdoor socket, IP66 rated, with the lid closing over the plug in use. IP44 is the bare minimum for a genuinely sheltered position; IP66 for anywhere exposed.
  • 30mA RCD protection. BS 7671 Regulation 411.3.3 requires RCD protection not exceeding 30mA for socket-outlets up to 20A intended for use outdoors. A modern consumer unit will already provide this; an older installation may not.
  • A dedicated supply — not shared with garden lighting, a shed or a workshop ring.
  • Sited 1 to 2 metres from the bath. Close enough to plug in directly, far enough to stay dry.
  • Any buried cable to be SWA (steel wire armoured), at 500mm depth in gardens, 450mm under paving or 600mm under a drive, or otherwise mechanically protected.

Do you need to notify Building Control?

It depends where you live and how the socket is wired:

  • England: a brand new circuit run from the consumer unit is notifiable under Approved Document P. An outdoor socket spurred from an existing internal circuit is generally not notifiable.
  • Wales: broader rules apply and outdoor installations are generally notifiable.
  • Scotland and Northern Ireland: separate building standards apply — your electrician will advise.

Notifiable work must be notified to Building Control in advance, or self-certified by an electrician registered with a Competent Person Scheme such as NICEIC, NAPIT, ELECSA or STROMA.

Two non-negotiables

Never use an extension lead. Not a reel, not a "heavy duty" one, not temporarily. A compressor's inrush current on an undersized or coiled lead is a genuine fire risk, and Insignia's warranty is void where the unit has been run on an inadequate or unstable supply.

Keep your electrical certificate. Insignia require evidence of compliant installation for any warranty claim. A Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate from your electrician is what you need. File it with your order confirmation.

Stage 6 — Commissioning, step by step

Follow this in order. Step 2 in particular is not optional.

  1. Position and level. Place the bath on the prepared base with 600mm clearance all round. Check level in both directions. Lock the castors.
  2. Wait three hours. Power off. The unit must stand level and stationary for a minimum of three hours before you apply power, so the compressor oil settles after transport. Switching on early can damage the compressor, and that damage is not covered. This applies after any move, not just after delivery.
  3. Fill through the filtration system, by hose. Not straight into the shell — filling through the filter housing purges air and prevents the pump running dry or airlocking. Fill to the marked water line. Expect roughly 25 to 35 minutes on a typical garden hose.
  4. Bleed the air. Open the air bleed screw on the filter housing to purge trapped air, then close it.
  5. Check for leaks before you switch on. Inspect every union, the drain valve and the floor of the plant bay. Two minutes here saves a great deal later.
  6. Plug in and test the RCD. Plug directly into the outdoor socket. Press the RCD test button and confirm it trips and resets.
  7. Confirm circulation. Power on and check the pump primes and water is moving. The control system may hold for three to five minutes before entering normal operation — this is normal.
  8. Set your temperature. The factory default is 8°C. Set it to your target — most people settle between 3°C and 5°C.
  9. Fit the thermal cover. It materially reduces both the initial chill-down time and your ongoing running cost. Use it every time.
  10. Balance the water. Dose and test per Insignia's water care guidance. Water chemistry outside their guidance voids the warranty, so start as you mean to go on.

Stage 7 — What to expect in the first 24 hours

The first chill-down takes 8 to 14 hours. This is normal and it is the single most common reason people call us on day one thinking the unit is faulty. Cooling several hundred litres from mains temperature to 3°C is a large amount of heat to move. Switch it on the evening before you want to use it.

After that first pull-down the chiller only has to hold temperature, which it does by cycling — so day two onwards is much quicker and much cheaper. You will hear the compressor start and stop. That is the unit working correctly, not a fault.

If after 18 hours the water has not reached within a couple of degrees of your setpoint, check the cover is fitted, check the 600mm clearance is genuinely clear, and then call us.

Stage 8 — Keeping the warranty valid

The Insignia carries a 1 year parts warranty. Labour is not included. These are the conditions that most often void it — all of them are avoidable:

  • Installation on an inadequate or unlevel base
  • No valid electrical certificate, or use of an extension lead or unstable supply
  • Insufficient clearance for ventilation
  • Poor water chemistry, or neglected or unchanged filters
  • Running the unit outside its specified temperature range
  • Freeze damage. Keep the pump running in freezing conditions. If temperatures are forecast below −10°C and the bath is not in use, drain it fully
  • Non-genuine replacement parts

Insignia's routine maintenance guidance is weekly water changes, weekly filter changes and a monthly clean of the hair filter. Keep a note of when you do it.

Your rights

Everything above is our process. This is the law, and it sits on top of our process rather than being replaced by it.

  • Delivery timescale. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, unless we have expressly agreed a longer period with you, we must deliver within 30 days. If we miss it you can give us a further reasonable period, and if that passes you can cancel and receive a full refund. Where the lead time on this product may exceed 30 days we will agree that with you in writing before you order.
  • Risk in transit is ours. The goods remain at our risk until they are in your physical possession. Transit damage is our problem to resolve, not yours — signing for a pallet does not change that.
  • 14-day cancellation right. Because you are buying online, you may cancel within 14 days of receiving the bath, for any reason or none. You then have a further 14 days to return it, and we refund within 14 days of receiving it back, including the standard outbound delivery cost.
  • Return carriage on a cancellation is payable by you, and will cost approximately [RETURN COST] for an item of this size and weight. We are telling you this before you order because we are required to, and because you should know it.
  • Deductions. You may inspect the bath as you would in a shop. If it has been filled, run, or otherwise used beyond establishing its nature and function, we may deduct for the reduction in value.
  • Faulty goods. Separately from the above, you have a 30-day right to reject goods that are not of satisfactory quality, and further rights after that. Nothing on this page limits those rights.

Manufacturer Warranty Policy

Insignia Commercial Ice Bath | 1 Year Parts

This unit carries Insignia's manufacturer warranty. We set the terms out plainly here rather than in small print, because the commercial-use position in particular is one you need to see before you order.

1. Coverage & Duration

  • Shell — 1 Year: Manufacturing defects in the shell structure.
  • Electrical — 1 Year: Chiller, pump, control system and electrical components.
  • Parts Only: Insignia's terms exclude labour and any services employed by a third party. Cover is for parts.

2. Domestic Environment Condition — Read This If You Are a Business

Insignia's published warranty terms state that equipment must be used in a domestic environment, and that equipment used in a non-domestic or commercial environment is not covered by warranty unless specifically indicated as a commercial product. If you are buying for business premises, contact us before ordering so we can confirm in writing what warranty position applies to your installation. We will not let you order on an assumption.

3. Your Statutory Duties as a Business Operator

Operating a cold plunge as part of a business activity engages duties that do not apply to a domestic owner, under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, COSHH 2002 and ACOP L8. As a minimum you will need a written legionella risk assessment, an appointed responsible person, a written scheme of control, and records retained for five years. HSG282 also requires ozone to be used in conjunction with residual disinfection, maintaining free chlorine at 3–5mg/l or total active bromine at 4–6mg/l, with monthly microbiological sampling. The ozone and dual filtration supplied with this unit is not sufficient on its own for business use.

4. Conditions That Void Cover

  • Installation: An inadequate, unlevel or non-load-bearing base; insufficient ventilation clearance; no valid electrical certificate; use of an extension lead or an unstable supply.
  • Water Care: Poor water chemistry, neglected or unchanged filters, or running outside the specified temperature range.
  • Freeze Damage: Keep the pump operational in freezing conditions. If the unit is out of use and temperatures below −10°C are forecast, drain it fully.
  • Parts: Use of non-genuine replacement parts.

1. The Bespoke Nature of Your Purchase

Products in our made-to-order collection—including custom-clad tubs and integrated chilling systems—are commissioned and prepared according to the specific dimensions, materials, and finishes selected at the time of purchase.

  • Final Sale: Due to the personalised nature of these items and the specialised logistics involved, we are unable to accept returns or offer refunds for a "change of mind" once the order has entered production.
  • Accuracy: We encourage customers to verify all site dimensions (including delivery access) and electrical requirements for chilling units before finalising an order.

2. Natural Material Disclosure

Many of our ice baths feature high-quality, sustainably sourced timber exteriors. Wood is a natural, living material, and as such:

  • Unique Characteristics: Every item will feature distinct variations in grain pattern, knots, and texture.
  • Tone & Colour: Final wood shading may vary slightly from digital gallery images. These nuances are not manufacturing defects but hallmarks of the material's authentic origin.
  • Environmental Response: Minor surface “shakes” (small cracks) may occur as wood adapts to its environment and moisture levels; these do not compromise the structural integrity or cooling performance of the product.

3. Order Cancellations and Amendments

To ensure timely delivery, commissions are processed into the production cycle shortly after confirmation.

  • Cancellation Window: You may request a cancellation or amendment within 24 hours of placing your order.
  • Administration Fees: Cancellations requested after this window, but prior to the commencement of fabrication, will incur a 10% fee to cover administrative costs and material allocation with our production partners.
  • Post-Fabrication: Once an item has entered production, the order is non-cancellable and non-refundable.

4. Hygiene and Health Safety Compliance

Ice baths are water-immersion wellness products. For health and safety reasons, once an ice bath has been delivered and filled with water, or its internal plumbing has been accessed, it is considered “used” and cannot be returned. This policy ensures every Balance Recovery client receives a pristine, sanitary system.

5. Damages and Manufacturing Faults

Every system undergoes rigorous quality assurance and leak-test checks before dispatch. In the event of a discrepancy:

  • Transit Damage: Please inspect your delivery immediately. Any damage sustained during transit must be noted on the delivery paperwork and reported to contact@balancerecovery.co.uk within 48 hours, accompanied by photographic evidence.
  • Manufacturing Defects: If a product is found to have an inherent manufacturing fault (e.g., a chiller malfunction or structural leak), please contact our support team. We will coordinate with specialist technicians to provide a repair, replacement, or refund in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

6. Statutory Rights and Compliance

  • Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013: Bespoke and made-to-order goods are legally exempt from the standard 14-day "cooling-off" period for distance selling.
  • Consumer Rights Act 2015: Your purchase must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. Your statutory rights regarding faulty or misdescribed goods remain fully protected.

Return Carriage on a Cancellation

This item ships palletised on a tail-lift vehicle. Where you cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the goods are not faulty, return carriage is payable by you at £[XXX] including VAT to UK mainland postcodes.
