Holl’s Onyxia Cube | 4-Person Modern Outdoor Sauna (Glazed Front)

The Holl’s Onyxia Cube – Glazed Front (HL-SSBLK160) is the 2026 evolution of the contemporary outdoor retreat. This version of the Onyxia series replaces the standard timber front with an expansive panoramic glazed facade, instantly transforming the sauna into a striking architectural focal point. Crafted from 40mm thick ThermoWood® Finnish Pine, it offers the same industry-leading insulation as the Classic model but with an open, airy atmosphere that brings your garden inside.

Equipped with 8mm Smoked Black tempered glass, the Onyxia Cube Glazed Front offers the perfect balance of visual freedom and thermal privacy. Whether it’s a morning sunrise or a snowy winter evening, this sauna provides an immersive wellness experience backed by European manufacturing and a 100% eco-friendly, chemical-free build.

Why the Onyxia Cube Glazed Front is the 2026 Premium Choice:

1. The Panoramic "Open-View" Facade

The standout feature of this model is the full-height glazed front panel.

  • Seamless Landscape Integratino: Designed for gardens with a view, the large glass surface eliminates the "closed-in" feel of traditional saunas, making the 4-person cabin feel significantly larger and more inviting.
  • Natural Light: Maximises ambient light during the day, while the smoked tint ensures the interior remains a private sanctuary.

2. 40mm ThermoWood® Finnish Pine Structure

Beneath the elegant black waterproof finish lies high-density Finnish Pine that has undergone professional thermal modification.

  • Thermal Mass: The 40mm thick walls act as a thermal battery, storing heat more efficiently than thinner 28mm or 32mm alternatives.
  • Climate Resilience: ThermoWood® is virtually immune to the expanding and contracting caused by UK humidity, ensuring the door and glass seals remain perfectly airtight for decades.

3. Smoked Black Safety Glass

The 8mm tempered safety glass is "Smoked Black" for two critical reasons:

  • Enhanced Privacy: It creates a "one-way" visual effect—you can clearly enjoy your garden view, but passersby see only a sleek, reflective black surface.
  • Heat Absorption: The darker tint aids in retaining radiant heat within the cabin, assisting the stove in maintaining a consistent 80°C–90°C environment.

2026 Professional Installation & Power Notes

  • Stove Recommendation: For this high-glass-content model, we recommend a 6kW or 8kW stove to ensure rapid heat-up times and consistent steam (Löyly) production.
  • Electrical Requirement: An 8kW unit typically requires a dedicated 40A single-phase supply (or 3-Phase equivalent). All outdoor cabling must be SWA (Steel Wire Armoured) to meet UK safety regulations.
  • Base Preparation: The Onyxia Cube requires a perfectly level, solid base (concrete or heavy-duty stone). An included floor protection mat ensures the internal timber is shielded from footwear and moisture.
  • Permitted Development: Standing at 220 cm, this unit complies with UK Permitted Development height limits (under 2.5m) for garden outbuildings.

Following these steps will help ensure a seamless delivery and setup of your Holl’s Sauna or France Sauna, whether you are installing it at home or in a professional wellness environment.

1. Place Your Order

  • Choose your preferred Holl’s Sauna or France Sauna model — whether infrared, traditional indoor, hybrid, or outdoor. Complete your purchase on our website by providing your delivery address.
  • The price listed includes delivery within mainland UK (exclusions include the Channel Islands, areas of Scotland, and Ireland).
  • You will receive an order confirmation email immediately with your order details, estimated delivery timeframe, and next steps.
  • To ensure smooth access on the day of delivery, we may request photos or a short video of the delivery area, access routes, or surrounding space.

CRITICAL: NOTICE TO THE PROPERTY OWNER

Owner’s Brief for the Onyxia Cube (Glazed Front)

This installation requires a dedicated high-amperage circuit. Under UK Building Regulations (Part P), all outdoor electrical work must be performed by a Registered Electrician.

THE GOLDEN RULE: While this document provides manufacturer guidelines, you must always defer to the professional judgment of your Registered Electrician. They will determine the safe cable route and the capacity of your consumer unit. If their on-site assessment contradicts this brief, follow the electrician’s instructions.

1. Power Infrastructure Requirements

The circuit must be sized based on your selected stove wattage. For the Glazed Front model, we have adjusted the recommendations to ensure performance.

Approx. Amperage

Recommended Breaker

Cable Size (SWA)

6.0kW (Recommended)

26.1A

  • Integrated Lighting: The White LED strips (mounted behind the backrests) are low voltage. Your electrician will connect the internal transformer hub to the main incoming 230V feed.
  • Armoured Cable (SWA): Steel Wire Armoured cable is mandatory. Due to the potential for heat loss through the glass front, ensuring full voltage (minimising voltage drop) via a thicker cable is highly beneficial.
  • Isolation Switch: A weatherproof, lockable Double-Pole Isolation Switch must be mounted near the sauna.

2. Safety & Moisture Management

  • RCD Protection: The circuit must be protected by a 30mA RCD at the consumer unit.
  • Glass Proximity: The electrician must ensure that the internal cabling for the LED strips and the stove is routed away from the glass gaskets to prevent heat-related degradation of the seals.
  • IP Rating: All external glands and junction boxes must be IP65 rated.

3. Aesthetic Wiring (The "Invisible" Look)

  • The Glazed Front Challenge: With a full glass front, there are fewer wooden "chases" to hide wires. Your electrician should route the main feed through the ThermoWood® floor frame or the rear corner pillars to maintain the clean, panoramic aesthetic.
  • LED Placement: Ensure the white LED wiring is tucked into the pre-machined grooves behind the Abachi/Pine backrests before the final glass panels are seated.

4. Commissioning

  • Stove Mounting: The stove should be mounted on the wooden side/rear walls, respecting all safety clearances from the 8mm smoked glass panels.
  • Certification: Your electrician must issue an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC). This validates your 2-year electronics warranty and ensures your home insurance covers the outdoor structure.

Owner’s Electrical Action Plan

  1. Selection: Confirm if you are opting for the 6kW or 8kW stove (Recommended for Glazed Front).
  2. Survey: Have your electrician confirm the main house fuse (60A/100A) can handle the 30A-40A spike.
  3. Pre-Wire: The SWA cable must be in place before the floor mat and base frame are finalised.
  4. Final Test: Electrician verifies the RCD trip times and earthing continuity before the first "Glass Expansion" heat cycle.

Delivery & Installation Protocol: Onyxia Cube (Glazed Front)

HL-SSBLK160-GF | Modern Panoramic Installation

The Glazed Front model creates a seamless transition between the sauna and your garden. Because the front wall is primarily glass rather than interlocking wood, the structural "squaring" of the side and rear walls is the most critical phase of the build.

1. Receipt & "Glass-First" Inspection (Mandatory)

  • The 24-Hour Rule: You must unbox and inspect the 8mm smoked black tempered glass front panels and the door within 24 hours.
  • Critical Check: Large glass panels are more susceptible to "flexing" during transit. Check all edges for micro-chips; a chip in a panel this size can lead to a shattered pane during the first high-heat cycle.
  • Storage: Keep the glass panels vertical and supported on their original protective edges until the moment of installation. Do not lean them against uneven surfaces.

2. Site Preparation: The Zero-Tolerance Base

A standard cabin can hide a slight lean; a Glazed Front Cube cannot.

  • The Foundation: A reinforced concrete pad or a steel-frame deck is highly recommended. The base must be 100% level. If the front of the base is lower than the back, the heavy glass door will "creep" open or bind against the frame.
  • Floor Protection Mat: Install the included mat first. It acts as the template for your build and prevents moisture from rising into the raw pine bench supports.
  • Wind Orientation: On a glazed front model, try to position the glass face away from the prevailing wind to minimise heat loss and prevent excessive debris buildup on the panoramic view.

3. Choosing Your Installation Pathway

Pathway A: Professional Installation (Highly Recommended)

  • The Service: Specialists will focus on the tension between the 40mm ThermoWood® side walls and the glass front. They will ensure the gaskets are seated perfectly to prevent steam escaping from the glass-to-wood joints.
  • Technical Setup: Includes the integration of the white LED backrest strips.

Pathway B: Self-Assembly (Minimum 3-4 Person Task)

  • The Manpower: You will need at least 3 adults, ideally 4, when it comes to lifting and securing the glazed front panels. These are significantly heavier and more awkward than the wooden wall planks.
  • Sequence: Build the rear and side ThermoWood® walls first to create a stable "U-shape" before attempting to slot the front glass panels into the tracks.
  • Tools: Suction glass lifters (highly recommended), high-quality spirit level, rubber mallet, and hex key set.

4. Commissioning & Maintenance

  • First Heat: The glass will expand. During the first session, you may hear minor "creaks" as the wood and glass gaskets settle. This is normal for a 40mm ThermoWood® structure.
  • Glass Maintenance: Use only non-ammonia glass cleaners. Smoked black glass shows fingerprints and water spots easily; a quick squeegee after each session will keep the "Glazed Front" aesthetic pristine.
  • Stove Selection: Because of the increased glass surface (which has a lower R-value than 40mm wood), we recommend a 6kW or 8kW stove for this specific model to ensure rapid heat-up in cold weather.

Installation Readiness Checklist

  •  Inspection: Large glazed front panels and door checked within 24 hours?
  • Base: Is the foundation reinforced and verified 100% level?
  •  Equipment: Do you have suction glass lifters for safe handling?
  •  Stove: Have you selected a 6kW+ stove to account for the glass frontage?
  •  Manpower: At least 3 adults ready for the "Glass Day"?

Holl’s Onyxia Cube (Glazed Front): Warranty Statement

HL-SSBLK160-GF | Panoramic Modern Protection Terms

The Onyxia Cube with Glazed Front is a premium architectural wellness solution. To protect your 4-year structural and 2-year electronic coverage, the following professional standards for glass-to-wood integration must be strictly observed.

1. Warranty Duration

Holl’s (Poolstar) provides a tiered warranty reflecting the durability of European-manufactured ThermoWood®:

  • Wood Structure: 4-Year Warranty against manufacturing defects, structural failure, or rot in the 40mm ThermoWood® planks and floor frame.
  • Electronics: 2-Year Warranty covering the integrated white LED backrest strips, control hub, and internal wiring.
  • Stove: If a stove (4.5kW to 8kW+) is purchased separately, it is governed by its own manufacturer’s warranty terms.
  • Usage: These terms apply strictly to private domestic home installations.

2. Conditions for Validity

To maintain your coverage, the following environmental and technical standards are mandatory:

  • Certified Professional Hardwiring: The unit must be hardwired by a Registered Electrician to a dedicated circuit. Due to the glass frontage, using a 6kW+ stove is recommended; damage caused by undersized cabling or incorrect circuit protection will void the 2-year electronics warranty.
  • Zero-Tolerance Foundation: Because this model features a full glass front, the base must be 100% level and reinforced. Structural "racking" or "twisting" caused by an unlevel base, which leads to glass panel stress, door misalignment, or seal failure, is not covered.
  • Floor Protection Mat: The included floor protection mat must be installed. Failure to use the mat, leading to moisture wicking into the raw pine internal supports, will void the internal wood warranty.

3. The 24-Hour Inspection Rule (Panoramic Glass)

  • Smoked Black Glazing: This model contains significantly more glass than the classic version. You must unbox and inspect the Glazed Front Panels and the 8mm Door and report any transit damage, edge chips, or cracks within 24 hours of delivery.
  • Post-Assembly: Once the glass is seated in the ThermoWood® tracks and the first heat cycle is completed, glass breakage is considered accidental damage and is not covered.

4. Material Integrity & Care

  • ThermoWood® Finish: The exterior waterproof black paint is a protective barrier. To maintain the 4-year warranty, avoid abrasive cleaning. Use only soft cloths and fresh water. Never use high-pressure washers, which can damage the glass gaskets and strip the black finish.
  • Glass Seals: Do not use silicone or aftermarket sealants on the glass-to-wood joints unless specified by the manufacturer, as these can interfere with the natural thermal expansion of the 40mm Finnish pine.
  • Hygiene: To prevent salt and perspiration staining on the raw pine interior benches, the use of towels is mandatory.

5. Claims Procedure

In the event of a technical or structural issue:

  1. Documentation: Provide your original purchase record and the GTIN (HL-SSBLK160).
  2. Electrical Evidence: For any electronic claims, you must provide the Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) showing a dedicated circuit.
  3. Photos: Evidence of the level foundation and the correctly seated glass gaskets may be requested.

Warranty Validity Checklist

  •  Inspection: Reported any transit or glass damage within 24 hours?
  • Base: Is the Cube sitting on a reinforced, 100% level foundation with the mat?
  •  Electrical: Is the unit hardwired and certified by a Registered Electrician?
  • Maintenance: Are you cleaning the smoked glass with non-ammonia products?
