Authentic Finnish Craftsmanship & Heritage

Hetki saunas are built in Finland by skilled artisans who specialise in traditional sauna construction. Each sauna is handcrafted from premium, sustainably sourced dense spruce logs, chosen for their strength, natural insulation, and longevity. This solid log construction reflects centuries of Finnish sauna heritage, where the quality of the building directly influences the quality of the sauna experience.

Unlike mass-produced or flat-pack sauna kits, every Hetki sauna is made to order, ensuring exceptional build quality, durability, and a refined finish throughout.

How It Works – From First Consultation to Your Hetki Electrical Sauna Ready to Use (UK)

As the authorised UK retailer for Hetki, we manage every stage of your Hetki Electrical Sauna journey — from initial consultation and customisation through to delivery, installation, electrical connection, and final handover. Our role is to ensure your sauna is delivered and installed smoothly, with clear responsibilities and requirements at every step.

Step 1: Initial Consultation

  • Your journey begins with a consultation with our UK Hetki team.

We discuss:

  • Your Hetki Electrical Sauna model and size
  • Residential or commercial use (private garden, spa, hotel, retreat, hospitality venue)
  • Proposed placement, access, and site conditions
  • Design preferences, finishes, glazing, and optional upgrades
  • Electrical considerations specific to electric sauna heaters
  • You are encouraged to share photos or videos of your proposed location. This allows us to assess access, lifting requirements, and site suitability early, helping avoid delays or complications later.

Step 2: Design, Specification & Quotation:

  • Once your requirements are clear, we will finalise the specification of your Hetki Electrical Sauna.

This includes:

  • Exterior colour and finish
  • Window and door configuration
  • Interior bench layout and lighting
  • Electric heater compatibility and pre-wired configuration
  • Commercial considerations were applicable

We then provide:

  • A clear, detailed quotation
  • Dimensional drawings and floor plans
  • Foundation and site preparation guidance
  • Electrical preparation guidance for your electrician
  • This ensures you can prepare your site and appoint contractors well in advance of delivery.

Step 3: Site Access & Delivery Planning:

  • Before confirming delivery, we carefully plan logistics to ensure safe and efficient installation.

We will:

  • Review site photos and access routes
  • Confirm access for a heavy goods vehicle and crane
  • Determine whether a truck-mounted crane or external lifting equipment is required
  • In more complex or restricted locations, specialist lifting solutions may be needed. These are always discussed and agreed upon in advance.
  • If decking, paving, landscaping or kerbstones are planned around the sauna, we recommend completing these after the sauna has been installed.

Step 4: Ground & Foundation Preparation (Customer Responsibility)

  • A correct foundation is essential for the safety, performance, and longevity of your Hetki Electrical Sauna.

The foundation must:

  • Be even, strong, and stable
  • Support up to 2,000 kg, including occupants
  • Be appropriate for the soil and ground conditions of your site

Suitable foundation options include:

  • Reinforced concrete slab or pad
  • Strong patio or paving on a compacted base
  • Crushed gravel with structural support

The base should:

  • Extend beyond the sauna’s external dimensions
  • Provide an air gap of approximately 15–20 cm beneath the sauna
  • Prevent timber from coming into contact with ground moisture
  • We strongly recommend consulting a qualified builder, architect, or structural engineer to confirm suitability. Foundation drawings and guidance are supplied as part of the purchase.

Step 5: Delivery of Your Pre-Assembled Hetki Electrical Sauna

  • Your Hetki Electrical Sauna is delivered to the site as a fully pre-assembled structure, not a flat-pack or modular kit.

This approach offers clear advantages:

  • Faster installation
  • Minimal disruption on site
  • Consistent Finnish build quality
  • Reduced risk compared to on-site construction
  • Delivery is typically carried out by truck, with lifting handled by a crane integrated into the vehicle or an external crane where required.

Step 6: Installation by Our UK Installation Team

On delivery day, our experienced UK installation team will:

  • Lift and position the sauna onto its prepared foundation
  • Level and secure the structure
  • Carry out final positioning checks and visual inspection
  • This ensures the sauna is correctly installed and ready for electrical connection.

Step 7: Electrical Supply & Connection (Customer Responsibility)

  • All Hetki Electrical Saunas are delivered with internal electrical wiring completed. However, the external electrical supply and final connection are the responsibility of the customer.

You must:

  • Provide a suitable electrical feed to the sauna location
  • Appoint a qualified, registered electrician
  • Ensure compliance with all UK electrical regulations and certification requirements
  • ⚠ Our installation team does not carry out external electrical works, mains connections, or certification. We strongly recommend arranging your electrician well in advance so the electrical supply is ready immediately after installation.

Step 8: Drainage & Final Site Considerations

Hetki Electrical Saunas include:

  • Integrated guttering
  • Floor drainage options were specified
  • Drain locations are clearly marked in the supplied drawings. Any drainage system must allow water to safely disperse away from the sauna.

For durability and airflow:

  • Leave adequate clearance around the sauna
  • Avoid placing the sauna directly next to plants, trees, or bushes

Step 9: Final Handover & Ready to Use

Once:

  • The sauna is installed
  • The electrical connection has been completed by your electrician
  • Your Hetki Electrical Sauna is fully operational and ready to use.

We provide:

  • Product documentation
  • Maintenance and care guidance
  • Ongoing support as your authorised UK Hetki retailer
Electrical Supply - IMPORTANT +

Electric Heater Installation Guidelines

1. Electrical Supply Requirements

Electric sauna heaters are high-load appliances. They must be served by a dedicated electrical circuit and must never be connected to a standard ring main or domestic plug socket.

  • Standard Voltage: 230V Single-Phase (UK).
Load Calculation: Watts ÷ Volts = Amps
    (Example: 6000W ÷ 230V = approx. 26 Amps)

2. Estimated Heater Output & Cable Sizing

These figures are for estimation only. Your electrician will provide the final specification in accordance with BS 7671, taking into account voltage drop and the installation environment.

Note: Cables running through thermal insulation or over long distances (e.g., to a garden room) will require a significantly larger cross-section to prevent overheating.

3. Mandatory Technical Requirements

  • Heat-Resistant Cabling (SiHF): Standard PVC (Twin & Earth) cable must not be installed in the sauna cabin. The final connection to the heater terminals must use Heat-Resistant Silicone Rubber Cable (SiHF) rated for at least 170°C.
  • RCD Protection: The circuit must be protected by a 30mA RCD/RCBO.
  • Isolation: A local, double-pole rotary isolator switch is required outside the sauna cabin.
  • Load Assessment: For heaters 9.0 kW or higher, the electrician must verify that the property’s main incoming fuse can accommodate the heater alongside existing high-load appliances.

Woodburning Heater Installation Guidelines

1. Electrical Supply Requirements

While the primary heat source is wood, the sauna cabin requires a safe electrical supply for peripheral systems such as lighting, ventilation fans, or control sensors.

  • Load Type: Low-load (Lighting/Fans).
  • Circuit: Typically, a dedicated 13 Amp or 16 Amp circuit is sufficient.
  • Voltage: 230V Single-Phase (UK).

2. Mandatory Technical Requirements

Even without an electric heater, the cabin remains a "Special Location" due to extreme heat and humidity.

  • Heat-Resistant Cabling (SiHF): Standard PVC cabling will melt or degrade inside a sauna cabin. Any wiring for internal lights or sensors must use Heat-Resistant Silicone Rubber Cable (SiHF) rated for at least 170°C.
  • RCD Protection: All electrical circuits serving the sauna must be protected by a 30mA RCD/RCBO.
  • IP Ratings: All light fixtures, fans, or sensors installed inside the cabin must be rated at IP65 or higher to prevent moisture ingress from steam.
  • External Isolation: A local, double-pole switch should be installed outside the cabin to allow for safe maintenance and emergency shut-off.

Regulatory Compliance & Liability (Applicable to All)

All electrical work must be carried out by a qualified electrician and comply with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations). We accept no liability for issues arising from inadequate power supply, incorrect component selection, or non-compliant third-party wiring.

Delivery & Installation +

The Hetki Electric Sauna is delivered to the UK as a fully pre-assembled, plug-and-play outdoor sauna and changing room unit, ensuring a fast, efficient installation with minimal disruption. Designed as an enhanced version of the classic Hetki Sauna, the Electric Sauna combines an authentic Finnish sauna room with a dedicated changing and relaxation space, arriving complete and ready to install.

Unlike flat-pack sauna kits or on-site builds, this approach guarantees authentic Finnish craftsmanship, quicker setup, and long-term structural performance.

Installation is managed by the Balance Recovery installation team, with clear responsibilities outlined below to ensure a smooth, compliant, and stress-free process.

1. Pre-Assembled & Plug-and-Play Benefits

Your Hetki Electric Sauna arrives fully assembled, with the structure, interior, and factory-fitted components completed to your specification. For electric configurations, all internal electrics are pre-installed at the factory, offering several advantages for UK homeowners and commercial clients:

  • No on-site construction or structural assembly
  • Reduced installation time and labour costs
  • Consistent Finnish craftsmanship and premium finish
  • Faster route to first use, even for large-scale installations

The plug-and-play model means all internal systems are ready for connection; however, the final electrical connection must be completed by a qualified electrician.

2. Access, Delivery & Lifting Requirements

Before delivery, we will confirm the exact placement location of your Hetki Electric Sauna. You are encouraged to share photos or videos of your site in advance so we can accurately assess access and lifting requirements.

Key delivery considerations:

  • The Electric Sauna is typically delivered by a heavy goods vehicle
  • Your site must be accessible by a truck and crane
  • Lifting is usually carried out using a crane integrated into the delivery truck
  • In more complex locations or longer lifting distances, an external crane may be required
  • In rare and highly challenging locations, specialist lifting solutions may be necessary

If decking, paving, landscaping, or kerbstones are planned around the sauna, these should be installed only after the sauna has been positioned.

Clear and unobstructed access significantly reduces delivery time, cost, and installation risk — particularly important given the additional footprint of the Electric Sauna, which includes both sauna and changing room spaces.

3. Ground & Foundation Requirements

A correct foundation is essential for the performance, safety, and longevity of your Hetki Electric Sauna.

The foundation must be:

  • Even strong and stable
  • Capable of supporting up to approximately 2,000 kg, including occupants
  • Designed to suit the soil and ground conditions of your site

We strongly recommend having your site assessed by a qualified builder, architect, or structural engineer prior to installation. Dimensional drawings, floor plans, and foundation guidance are supplied as part of your purchase.

4. Recommended Foundation Types

Suitable foundation options include:

  • Concrete pad or slab
  • Reinforced patio or hardstanding
  • Paver blocks or garden slabs on a solid, compacted base
  • Crushed gravel base with structural support

If installed on a patio or deck, it must be specifically engineered to support the full weight of the Electric Sauna, especially for frequent or commercial use.

Key Foundation Guidelines

  • The base should extend beyond the external dimensions of the sauna
  • The sauna must not be installed directly on lawn, loose slabs, rubble, gravel, or bare ground
  • A 15–20 cm air gap beneath the sauna is required for ventilation and moisture control
  • Reinforced pillar foundations are recommended at all four corners and beneath the door wall
  • Bitumen roofing felt should be placed between timber and foundations to prevent moisture absorption
  • In colder conditions, we recommend 5–10 cm of ground frost insulation beneath the base to prevent frost movement and thermal bridging

5. Drainage & Exterior Clearance

Hetki Electric Sauna models include:

  • Integrated water guttering
  • A floor drain that can be connected to a soakaway or drainage system

Drain locations are clearly marked in the supplied dimensional drawings. Any drainage system must allow water to safely drain away from the sauna structure.

For durability and airflow:

  • Avoid placing the sauna too close to trees, bushes, or plants
  • Leave adequate clearance around the structure to allow airflow and drying

6. Electrical Supply – Customer Responsibility

While the Electric Sauna arrives internally wired for electric heater configurations, the external electrical supply and final connection are the responsibility of the customer.

This includes:

  • Providing a suitable electrical feed to the sauna location
  • Ensuring compliance with all UK electrical regulations
  • Engaging a qualified, registered electrician to complete the final connection and certification

⚠ Balance Recovery does not carry out external electrical works, mains connections, or electrical certification. We strongly recommend consulting your electrician early to ensure everything is prepared ahead of installation day.

7. Professional Installation by Balance Recovery

On installation day, the Balance Recovery installation team will:

  • Position the Sauna using appropriate lifting equipment
  • Level and secure it onto the prepared foundation
  • Complete final checks and handover

Electrical connection and certification must be completed separately by your appointed electrician.

Warranty +

1. Scope of Limited Warranty

When replacing a defective Product or a part of the total Product (e.g. a sauna heater), it is replaced free of charge with a new product or a part of a product of the same type and quality. If the Product or a part of it in question is no longer manufactured at the time of fault reporting, the Supplier has the right to supply a similar product or a part of it.

5. Customer’s Duty of Review and Complaint

In the event of a defect in the Product, use of the Product must be stopped immediately.

6. Conditions and Limitations of Warranty

The limited warranty shall only be valid if the Product has been purchased from the Supplier or the Supplier’s authorised retailer. The Customer's purchase receipt of the Product is valid as proof of warranty.

The limited warranty is subject to the conditions that the Product is placed and installed, used and maintained appropriately according to the Supplier’s instructions and recommendations and according to the instructions of the manufacturer(s) of the sauna heater and other main parts/components of the Product.

The Owner´s Manual, including the Supplier’s instructions and recommendations, is provided on the Supplier’s website (https://www.hetkisauna.com/) and upon the delivery of the Product.

The instructions for the sauna heater, which is included as part of the Product, are provided on the heater manufacturer's website and with delivery of the Product.

The limited warranty applies only to original production defects, not errors that arise when changing the function or appearance of the goods. The warranty extends only to manufacturing and material defects and does not cover any damages resulting from mishandling of the Product by the Customer.

This warranty does not cover regular required maintenance of the Products, such as cleaning and staining or tightening of threaded rods and other maintenance referred to in the Owner´s Manual.

The Customer shall waive the right to exercise the rights arising from the warranty if he:

  • Has failed to duly and properly inspect the quantity, composition and quality of the Product upon the receipt thereof, if a deficiency of the Product could have been detected in the course of a reasonable inspection;
  • Has failed to notify the Supplier or the Supplier’s official distributor or the transport carrier of a deficiency detected in the Product promptly;
  • Has submitted false information in relation to the Product or an instance covered under warranty.

The limited warranty does not apply to:

  • Damages (including scratches, marks, staining, etc.) or malfunctions caused by normal wear and tear;
  • Damages or malfunctions caused by inappropriate installation or maintenance of the Product, its misuse, abuse, or use otherwise than intended, or negligence;

The limited warranty only covers the replacement or repairs of defective parts of the Product and does not extend to other direct and/or indirect expenses and/or damage caused due to a defect or failure of the Product.

The Supplier shall under no circumstances be held liable for consequential or indirect damages such as lost production, reduced sales, loss of operating profit, loss of contract or loss of user benefit.

Under no circumstances shall the Supplier or its representatives, distributors and retailers be held liable for injury to any persons or damages to any properties.

The Supplier is not liable for any damages or harm related to the purchase or use of products, services, resources, content, or any other transactions made in connection with any third-party purchase and/or installation which are altered, additional, supplementary or compensatory to the Supplier’s original Product.

Complaints, claims, concerns, or questions regarding third-party products and services should be directed to the concerned third-party. This limitation of liability includes, inter alia, any purchase and/or installation of sauna heaters other than those which have been installed and delivered explicitly by the Supplier.

The Customer should be aware and accept that wood, as the main material of the Product, is a natural living material which does not have the same properties or consistency as synthetic products.

Over time, wood may mature, move, settle, crack or bend, its colour may weather and alter, and wood resin may occur. These are natural characteristics of wood and do not indicate that the Product is defective.

The warranty does not cover such changes in the Product due to the natural qualities of the materials used.

The Customer should be aware and accept that apart from weathering and altering over time, the same colour shade may look somewhat different on different wooden materials and parts of the Product (e.g. walls, frames and boards, ceiling panels, floor, benches).

7. Changes to Warranty Terms and Products

The Supplier reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to update, change or replace any part of these Warranty Terms without notice by posting updates and changes on its website (https://www.hetkisauna.com/).

8. Validity

These Warranty Terms apply from 1.1.2021 until further notice.

9. Governing Law

Any dispute relating to these Warranty Terms and any separate agreements between the Supplier and the Customer is primarily addressed through negotiation.

These Warranty Terms and any separate agreements are governed and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of Finland.

The Parties submit all their disputes to the exclusive jurisdiction of the District Court of Helsinki, Finland. The seat of arbitration shall be in Helsinki, Finland, and the language of the arbitration shall be Finnish.
