This client approached us with a highly unique request: rather than building one massive sauna, they wanted to create a bespoke dual sauna experience side-by-side. Their vision was to offer guests a choice between two distinct atmospheric and thermal environments while maintaining a cohesive, high-end design language throughout the suite. We engineered two custom cabins, each capable of comfortably accommodating four guests for ultimate comfort or seating up to six during social wellness sessions.
Visual Harmony: The Clear Glass Connection
To ensure the two spaces felt connected rather than isolated, both saunas were designed with stunning, floor-to-ceiling clear glass front walls. This architectural choice achieves two things: it draws beautiful natural light into the cabins and creates a spacious, unconfined feel for the occupants. From the outside, the striking dual-glass frontage presents a visually spectacular, inviting wellness feature that immediately draws you in.
Cabin One: The Conversational Classic
The first sauna was designed to honour deep tradition and foster connection, offering a beautifully classic Finnish aesthetic.
Face-to-Face Seating
We engineered the layout with face-to-face benches, creating an intimate, conversational environment perfect for couples or small groups looking to connect while they unwind.
Traditional Slatted Design
The walls feature elegant horizontal slats, providing a rich, textured look that honours the heritage of traditional sauna building.
The Harvia Wall 9kW
To power this space, we installed the sleek Harvia Wall 9kW heater. It delivers a beautifully balanced, traditional Finnish heat that gently warms the body to its core.
Immersive Illumination
The lighting in this cabin is deeply enveloping. We integrated warm ambient LEDs both behind the ergonomic backrests and concealed underneath the benches, casting a therapeutic, multi-dimensional glow throughout the slatted wood.
Cabin Two: The Minimalist Powerhouse
The second sauna offers a contrasting experience, focusing on intense heat and sleek, modern minimalism.
Tiered Thermal Zones
This cabin features a classic two-level bench layout. Because heat rises, users can choose their preferred temperature zone—the lower bench for gentler warmth or the upper bench for an intense thermal embrace.
Modern Minimalist Aesthetics
In contrast to the first cabin, the walls here were left beautifully plain, allowing the natural grain of the premium wood to act as the primary artwork. We restricted the fluted slat design exclusively to the benches, creating a remarkably clean, smooth, and contemporary feel.
The Harvia Virta
For those who crave a more powerful sweat, this cabin is equipped with the heavy-duty Harvia Virta heater. Known for its robust commercial-grade performance, it has a massive stone capacity that delivers profoundly intense, penetrating heat.
Focused Ambient Glow
To complement the minimalist design, the lighting was streamlined. Warm LEDs were integrated solely behind the backrests, casting a soft, upward wash of light that perfectly illuminates the smooth timber walls as the sun sets.
