Because the unit stands on castors, the full in-use weight — the bath, several hundred litres of water and a bather — is carried on four small contact patches rather than spread across the footprint. That will punch through thin decking boards, crack unsupported paving and dent soft asphalt. Either site it on a continuous rigid surface, or use spreader pads or a full-width bearer plate under the castors.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you are siting it on a deck, balcony or any elevated structure, have it checked by a structural engineer first. A filled plunge bath is at or beyond the design load of standard domestic decking.
